6 Tracy players make SJAA All-League soccer team
Six Tracy High soccer players were named to the San Joaquin Athletic Association All-League team following the conclusion of the season.
Freshman Alexis Poppoff, the SJAA’s leading scorer with 25 goals in 15 league games, was named most valuable offensive player for the league. She also had eight assists, and coach Joe Perry said Poppoff will at the team’s core for the next three years.
“She’s just a freshman, and she’s awesome,” Perry said.
He added that All-League forward Katelyn Golik, who will also return next year, was instrumental in moving the ball toward the goal and was one of the team leaders in assists.
“She’s probably the play maker of the team,” Perry said.
Also named to the All-League team were halfback Melissa Worthington, defenders Brittany Branscomb and Andrea Garcia and midfielder Sarah Ballard.
The Tracy team had a record of 11-3-1 in the San Joaquin Athletic Association, 13-5-2 overall, and made the playoffs, where they lost 3-0 in the first round to St. Mary’s.
