Events and groups in Tracy and Mountain House. American Legion picnic
The annual American Legion and Auxiliary Armed Forces Day Picnic for hospitalized Patients will be served hot dogs, hamburgers salads, fruit pies and more. For information: Ruth Briggs, 835-1429. Safe teen driving The Get Real Behind the Wheel committee and the Altamont Motorsports Park will host a free on-track safe teen driving event for kids and their parents from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the raceway, 17001 Midway Road, west of Tracy. Teen drivers must be between 14 and 18 years old and accompanied by an adult, and teens will be allowed to use the pit and track areas for driver training in their own cars. Ninth St. William Sutton will discuss his grandfather’s adventures coming west on the Oregon Trail, which are chronicled in the book, "The Wind Blew Him West." For information: Judy Lee, 836-3358. Italian language course The nonprofit Central California School of Italian Language and Culture will offer a six-week course starting Tuesday at 2218 Pacific Ave., in Stockton. Cost is $80. Blood drive The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Delta Blood Bank will have a blood drive from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the cultural hall of the church, 1981 Chester Drive. For information: Jackie Noll, 836-4430. Moose dinner The Women of the Moose will host their monthly dinner at 6 p.m. Friday at the lodge, 35 E. Sixth St. Moose women will serve baked potatoes with all the fixings, butter, sour cream, cheese, chili, onions, broccoli, salsa and bacon bits, as well as green salad, rolls and dessert. Food and clothing drive The Joaquin Chapter Order of the Eastern Star will have a food drive from 8 a.m. to noon May 24 at the Tracy Masonic Temple, 1604 Tracy Blvd. Donations will be given to groups that help victims of domestic violence. For information: Peggy LeClert, 477-4756, 988-7589. Portuguese Festa parade The annual Portuguese Festa parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. May 25. The parade will start at the Portuguese Hall, 430 W. Ninth St., head to Central Avenue, then head north to Eaton Avenue and end at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave., where an 11 a.m. Solemn High Mass will be conducted in Portuguese. Alzheimer’s support group meets The Alzheimer’s Aid Society of Northern California group will meet at 10 a.m. June 11 the Community Room East at the Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, 1420 N. Baby-sitting emergency classes Sutter Tracy Community Hospital will host classes for kids ages11 through 13 to teach them how to handle emergencies when caring of children.
