The Millennium High softball team is headed for the semi finals of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division VII playoffs Saturday after the Falcons beat Sacramento Adventist, the second place team from the Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League, 13-3 Wednesday at the Lodi Softball Complex. Millennium coach Ray Eakin said the Falcons’ offense showed some of its best batting and base running of the season as they logged 13 base hits over five innings. The game ended in the fifth inning on the 10-run rule. “That was probably one of the more complete games we’ve had this year,” Eakin said. Pitcher Mary Sue Savage allowed three hits for Sacramento Adventist and gave up one earned run. Of the 22 batters she faced 10 went down to strikeouts. Nicole Ochoa led the Falcon batters with two hits in three at-bats, including a double and three runs batted in. Kelsea Eakin and Jaelyn Woods also went two-for-three, Eakin with a double and both with RBIs. Others to get hits included Savage, Flor Avila, Brianna Murawski, Antoinette Morris, Kayla Larson and Julia Robertson.
The Falcons play again on Saturday, May 17, with a 10 a.m.
game at Arnaiz Stadium in
Millennium and “We know what we’re going to face there,” Eakin said. “It’s going to depend on which of us is going to be hungrier going into the finals. Other teams that will compete for a shot at the championship are Elliot Christian, which was 8-1 and first place in the HCL, and Valley Christian, which was first place in the SMAL.
