An eighth-place finish at sections ends the Tracy High golf team’s season.

Tracy High’s golf team ended its season Tuesday with an eighth-place finish among 14 teams at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament at Stevinson Ranch Golf Club in Stevinson, about 60 miles southeast of Tracy.

Tracy finished with a team score of 418. The Bulldogs’ low score for the day, freshman Anthony Manguray’s 79, was three strokes over the cutoff for the Northern California High School Golf Championships, which will be played Monday at the Richmond Country Club.

“For his freshman season, that’s a good accomplishment,” coach Derek Solano said.
Manguray will return next year as a sophomore, and two other players on the team, Jake Pineo and Kirk Leopoldo, will return as juniors.

“The kids are looking forward to having a good season next year,” Solano said.

The team’s other scores Tuesday were Dallas Lopez’s 81, Jake Pineo’s 82, Shane Conner’s 84, Joey Cefcik’s 92 and Kirk Leopoldo’s 92.

Low score for the tournament was Turlock golfer Sam Smith’s 2-under 70, and the low team scores for the tournament came from Christian Brothers, 388; Jesuit, 392; and Rocklin, 395.
