Forecasters predict that this week will see daytime highs approaching the century mark. Temperatures are predicted to peak well above normal this week, as the AccuWeather forecasting service anticipates scorching sunshine to beat down on the Central Valley. By Thursday afternoon, temps could reach 100 degrees, pushed by a strong current of high pressure that will settle over the state. "Over the next few days, we’ll see just an increasingly hot pattern," said Carl Erickson, meteorologist for AccuWeather.com. Highs are expected to stay at 100 degrees Friday and then fall to the low- to mid-90s throughout the weekend. Cool marine air sometimes flows through the Delta into San Joaquin County, but not this time, Erickson said. "This pattern will keep that cool air locked out," he explained. The month’s temperatures have been slightly cooler than average, with lows in the mid-40s and highs in the 70s. Tracy’s hottest day so far this year was April 27, when temperatures reached 94. The mercury is expected to climb near that today, with a high of 93.
