3:09 p.m.: A child was hit by a car and sustained major head injuries, according to police. Police blocked off traffic near Grant Line Road and Lincoln Boulevard for a helicopter to land. I hope this young person will survive, i was in the traffic after it had happened and saw the helicopter arrive. As a parent whos children attend each of the three schools, jacobson, monte vista, and west high, and we just went through the services for the young man who died last week I have to ask why arnt the children being reminded that its the LAW to wear their helmets, its the LAW to cross only at marked crosswalks when the signal says to go but they should still look both ways. On weds i was coming home from savemart and if i hadnt paid attention to the child who didnt wait to stop until he was inches from the intersection i wouldnt have noticed his 4 friends running arcoss tracy blvd and the 5th one stranded on the island being told by the others to just run. I wouldve hit that little boy had he listend to them and i hadnt seen his friend. Instead i blocked the lane so he could cross. I also saw a parent an child riding their bikes the other day, mom had on her helmet but the child did not WTH ppl
Sadly i think a message is being sent to us and were not listening.
WEAR YOUR HELMETS, LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE YOU CROSS, USE A CROSS WALK, WEAR YOUR SEATBELT AND SLOW DOWN,

I know the guy that hit the boy, was not his fault. The boy darted in from of him. It is a sad an tragic event, I would like to know how he is doing. If you could Tracy Press please report on it. We care more about that than some stupid goat wondering down the street, or teenagers dancing in the parking lot. YAWN! Step up to the plate and report, I know high schoolers that do a better job, with less spelling and grammer errors. Hire actual reporters, and an editor that knows what the hell they are doing. I know you are a family owned and run business, but come on not all of your family is talented. We suffer from horrible news reporting on useless information, due to lack of a press staff. I know many others that think your paper is a joke. I know it is. Report on the news, and your community will support you more.

I agree that Tracy Press should have printed something other than just a police log regarding Friday's accident. There were many police out there that day as well as a lot of on-lookers. Every road getting out of the residential area as well as Grant line was blocked. I feel our city is still small enough where everybody knows everybody and alot of the community cares about crimes/accidents. As a teacher and resident in the community, I would have liked to have known what went on. Waiting until Monday morning seems a bit long to report on such a big accident scene. If our town is going to continue to grow, seems like we need to have some sort of educated reporting and newspaper.

Is this True?

Hey everyone I just received this from a girl I work with:

I just got a phone call from one of my ex-employees who is now a prison
guard at DVI in Tracy, Ca. He wanted me to warn everyone about a new
gang. He learned about this from the inmates in jail. THIS IS FOR
REAL!!!!!! Tonight is the first night of initiation and this is what
they do;

At a stop light/sign they will "bump" your car. You will then get out to
see what is going on then they will shoot you. This is happening across
the state. They are targeting everyone, but mainly females.
PLEASE,PLEASE forward this e-mail a.s.a.p to all of your friends and
family.
