A civil bench warrant was issued after former interior designer Vicky Sperbeck failed to show up for small claims court Monday, and a new date will be rescheduled.

San Joaquin County Superior Court has a civil bench warrant out for the arrest of interior designer Vicky Sperbeck after she failed to appear for a small claims court hearing Monday.

Daryl and Wendy McCraw of Lathrop took Sperbeck to court because they say she failed to deliver services they paid for, according to court records.

The McCraws first took Sperbeck to court in January and won, according to court records, but the couple said they never saw the $2,687 they’re owed.

Sperbeck said Friday that she thought the court date was Tuesday. She went into Tracy Court to request a new court date, according to a court clerk.

As soon as the San Joaquin County Sherriff’s Department serves her court papers, Sperbeck must appear in court the Monday after she receives the papers, according to the same court clerk.

“The clients who I have disputes with will be taken care of by the end of the month,” Sperbeck said. “I want to be proactive and handle this.”

Wendy McCraw said Thursday she’s not sure yet how she’ll get the money, but in March she said, “We will proceed to seek payment.”

Sperbeck, 46, has been required to pay $13,362 in three other small claims cases within the past six months for not delivering interior design services that customers paid for in advance.

She has been a well-known interior designer in the area for about five years. She opened House to Home on 10th Street in 2006. Her business was named "favorite interior design business" last year in Tracy Press’ Best of Tracy contest. But it closed in October.

Stacy Robison, who hired Sperbeck to install granite countertops, carpet and window blinds in her home, said she’s still owed about $3,600. Robison said she will file a small claims case against Sperbeck, but has hesitated.

“I guess I had hopes that I would receive the money,” she said Thursday. “But I’m not going to let her go. She’s not going to get away that easy with my money.”

Sperbeck thought the court date was Tuesday.

Sure she did! Just like she thought that it was okay to scam people out of their money. Good for the consumers that are holding her accountable!

People, please stop dealing with this woman she's already embezzled millions of dollars and has not stopped being a crook.

I recently has the same issue and thought I would not be able to recover and did not want to spend more money or knew anything about the court system. But, I went ahead and filed one. I think small claims is a perfect system for situation such as this.. also I used civiltree.com to aid me [for those new to small claims, good resource/aid (www.civiltree)]. I will tell you how it went.
