Food drive

Letter carriers in Tracy on Saturday will join others nationwide and collect non-perishable food so Tracy Interfaith Ministries can feed people who are hungry.

Organizers hope people will put items such as cans of soup or vegetables, peanut butter and jelly, canned meats, fruits and fruit juices in a grocery bag placed by your mailbox so letter carriers can pick it up.

Food can also be dropped off at the Post Office on Ninth Street, or at Tracy Interfaith Ministries at 2441 Holly Drive.

Campaign kickoff

Democrat Assemblywoman Lois Wolk of Davis will have a campaign rally and barbecue at 1 p.m. Saturday at a union hall at 22 N. Union St. in Stockton to kickoff her race for the State Senate.

Prayer-a-thon

The New Heart Community Church will hold its third annual 24-hour prayer focus from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday at the church at 1647 Bessie Ave.

Mother’s Day brunch

The Tracy Moose Lodge will host a Mother’s Day brunch from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at the lodge at 35 E. Sixth St.

Swim awards banquet

The West High Swim Awards Banquet will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the cafeteria at the school at 1775 W. Lowell Ave.

Republicans meet

South San Joaquin County Republicans will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday Chez Shari Restaurant at the Manteca Golf Course, 305 Union Road, in Manteca.

Food giveaway

The San Joaquin County Human Services Agency will give away surplus food to the needy starting at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Larch Clover Community Center, 11157 W. Larch Road.

Those who receive food must self-certify that they are San Joaquin County residents who meet income requirements, and bring proof of address and zip code.

Blood drive

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Delta Blood Bank will hold a blood drive from 4 to 8 p.m. May 22 in the Cultural Hall of the church at 1981 Chester Drive.

Moose dinner

The Women of the Moose will host their monthly dinner at 6 p.m. May 23 at the lodge at 35 E. Sixth St.

Moose women will serve baked potatoes with all the fixings, butter, sour cream, cheese, chili onions, broccoli, salsa and bacon bits, as well as green salad, rolls and dessert.

The cost is $6.50.

Foster parent meetings

Those interested in becoming licensed foster parents can attend an orientation meetings held by the San Joaquin County Human Services Agency.

One meeting is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. June 9 at the agency offices at 102 S. Hunter St. in Stockton, and another is set for 6 to 8 p.m. June 25 in the Stewart-Hazelton Room of the Cesar Chavez Central Library at 605 N. El Dorado St. in Stockton.
