![]() Mayoral candidate Celeste Garamendi addressed her supporters. Glenn Moore/Tracy Press It’s the second run at the mayor’s post for Garamendi, 51, a health care consultant and activist who lost in 2006 with 45 percent of the vote to Mayor Brent Ives, who won 55 percent. Ives, 54, is running again this year, as is Councilwoman Evelyn Tolbert, 66, in what’s expected to be tight race. In the cozy dining room of Fabio's restuarant in downtown Tracy, the lieutenant governor described his younger sister as a woman who has the vision to remake Tracy for the better, and one who would lead a government on the lookout for opportunities to bring stable, well-paying jobs to town. “Celeste is absolutely committed,” he said. The lieutenant governor said the mayor of any city has a role to play in emphasizing education, though the City Council has no direct oversight of schools, and he broached the openness in government theme of her campaign, something that he suggested goes hand-in-hand with any thriving city. She told the crowd that she’s running to “keep the promise that everyone felt when we moved here.”
![]() Lt. Gov. John Garamendi introduced his sister to the crowd. Glenn Moore/Tracy Press She said she’d zero-in on trying to turn the downtown into an economic engine for the city that also gives it a cultural identity, and put resources into quality-of-life issues such as trying to lessen graffiti and speeders. Garamendi, co-founder of Tracy Region Alliance for a Quality Community, the group that wrote the slow-growth law voters passed in 2000, said she would work to make “new development pay for itself.” She said she’d take no money from developers this campaign and report every donation she received regardless of how small, pointing out that Tolbert has raised roughly $45,000 in her political career but has not disclosed who gave her money because she only takes donations of $99 or less, the legal cutoff for reporting donors. And she repeated a central argument of her campaign, that the council over the years has put the interests of developers ahead of ordinary citizens by making deals with developers behind closed doors. “We want to open government,” she said. “That will make us stronger.” • We want to hear what you have to say. Open government ... no more backroom developer deals, over two plus years and nothing to show for it. Get rid of those corrupt career politicians Ives and Tolbert.
Christy says:
"Get rid of those corrupt career politicians Ives and Tolbert." Umm, excuse me, Christy, if you were advocating a platform opposed to "career politicians," would you select John Garmanendi to kickoff your campaign? Isn't that like Hillary hodling herself up as a "Washington outsider?" Oh wait, I forgot, we aren't talking about reality, we talking about politics.
"The Carpetbagger should go back to the family compound in the hills and take "The Shyster" with her.
"Get rid of those corrupt career politicians Ives and Tolbert."
Can we please get rid of Dale Cose while we are at it?
Ives & Tolbert have had decades on the council and as Mayor, it is time for change. I am voting for Garamendi.
Celeste Garamendi is interested in the right changes for Tracy. Carpetbagger or not, she will promote an agenda that is the best for the vast majority of the citizens, not just the developers, not just those supposed citizen groups backed by the developers. I have not voted for Ives, Tolbert or Tucker in the recent past and it is a mystery why they are continually re-elected.
It would appear there is a difference between a career politican working in a variety of local and state positions over the years, who brings valuable experience and knowledge to each new post versus locally elected individuals who repeatedly vote against the people or who repeatedly try to resurrect projects/ideas voted down by the people. Some on the Tracy City Council have sided for too long with the developers. Tracy needs Celeste Garamendi.
Ives, Tolbert and their developer friends are going to use the same attack strategy against Celeste that they used two years ago. 200K of Pombo and developer money to place attack ads against Celeste. They fear her because she is everything they are not. She has a PLATFORM and a IDEOLOGY and she is not under the control of AKT and Surland. She will work for the people of Tracy and make the community better. Ives in 17 years and Tolbert 10 years.... what's to show for it? Please "strangely enough" and your thousand other names, tell us what is so great about Ives, we really want to know how much you like him and why.
will Ms. Garamendi be taking any money from any other special interests like TRACQ? will those interests be identified as such?
..., Lowly rated comment [Show]
Dale,
First of all she hasn't taken any TRAQC money. Second, you know TRAQC and Developer is not the same kind of special interest group. While, Developers are driven by their personal economic interest (I am not saying there is anything wrong with that), TRAQC is guided by the public interest. Therefore, it’s not only unfair but outright distortion of the truth to compare Souza/AKT and Serpa with TRAQC. We have tried Ives for 17 years and Tolbert for 10. Shouldn't Tracy people elect other than these two to lead the City? I believe, the time has come for Celeste Garamendi to lead the City and show us what is she capable of doing.
More of Ives? I don't think so. Give Tolbert a chance, I don't think so, either.
Years have proven that their words are bigger than their actions. I have been following the sports park agenda closely. Easy to see what the frustrated long-time locals and residents are talking about. We don't want more of the same. Seeing all these "great plans"... is the same ploy used two years ago to get the voters to swing their way... don't be fooled. MY vote is decided on Celeste Garamendi, it is her turn. Her hands are MUCH CLEANER than the two, Tolbert and Ives. Ives and Tolberts hands are tied by the developers. Too much baggage to be efficient in the office. Time for them to move on. JUST my opinion.
A standing-room-only crowd showed up the place only holds 120 people come on tracy press tell it the way it is. IT WAS NOT THE ROSE BOWL !!!!!!!!!!. To AMY YOU BETTER CHECK HER HANDS AGAIN THE SMELL TOO.
Open government ... no more backroom developer deals, over two plus years and nothing to show for it. Get rid of those corrupt career politicians Ives and Tolbert.
report abusevote MISS CHRISTY YOU FORGET SHE TRIED TO MAKE HER OWN BACKROOM DEAL. WHEN SHE DID NOT GET THE RIGHT $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ SHE TURNED ON THE CITY. NEXT YOU WILL TELL US SHE WALKS ON WATER.
Ives and Tolbert & Tucker have turned against the people of Tracy when they piggybacked themselves to Serpa and AKT. They are only interested in their politcal backers!
Scary Larry,
You must be new Ben Rose, the attack dog appointed by Souza/AKT and Serpa. Good people of Tracy can see who is speaking on thier behalf and who is speaking for the Souza/AKT and Elis. Your nasty comments against Celeste gives more reasons to the people to vote for Celeste Garamendi. If you are really an intelligent person, make your point as to why either Ives or Tolbert should be the next Mayor instead of Celeste. If not, keep barking like a mad dog.
MAD RABID ATTACK DOG SCARRYLARRY EXPLAIN IT TO US WHY IS IVES SOOO GOOD, WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT IVES, WHAT HAS HE DONE FOR YOU LATELY?
Who gives away the few building permits available to a development in the county, not even in the city limits? FOR FREE!
Ives, Tucker, Tolbert!
Its time for $OUZA, $URLAND, IVE$, AND DALE CO$E TO FEEL THE WRATH OF TRACY RESIDENTS. CELESTE HAS BEEN FIGHTING FOR CHANGE FOR SO LONG. WHAT CHANGES HAVE IVES AND TOLBERT BROUGHT US?
MORE HOMES MORE CRIME MORE THUGS MORE DRUGS MORE TRAFFIC LESS EFFECTIVE POLICE DECREASED PARK SERVICES MORE DEVELOPERS NO NEW AQUATICE CENTER NO NEW SPORTS PARK MORE HOMES ON MCARTHUR MORE CHAIN STORES AND STRIP MALLS NORTH OF 205 LESS OF A HEALTHY ENVIORNMENT FOR MOM AND POP SHOPS TO THRIVE CELESTE PLEASE BRING TRACY BACK FROM THE APOCOLYPSE. STOP TRACY HILLS STOP ELLIS STOP $URLAND,$OUZA, IVE$, CO$E, and greedy developers VOTE CELESTE VOTE FOR CHANGE VOTE FOR TRACY
Time for the right stuff. Celeste has my vote. Stop the growth to the overgrown sold-out-town. Hey Celeste, with out a strong police department we are helpless to the crime. And stronger driving city ordinances for street racers caught who endangers other inncocent lives. Make it a nicer place to live and grow. We need to grow in to what we already have here now.
Celeste Garamendi, help us get our neighborhoods back. Gangs and Thugs have pretty much taken over the Parks. Make our neighbor and parks safe for all people.
Thank you. -amy written by christee , May 09, 2008 Its time for $OUZA, $URLAND, IVE$, AND DALE CO$E TO FEEL THE WRATH OF TRACY RESIDENTS. Ms. CAPPS, what wrath did you have in mind for me? Most people moving to Tracy moved here for more opportunity... home prices, educational, location, jobs ... More homes- more choices More crime- already low and dropping More thugs, drugs- see last answer More traffic- If you stop growth in Tracy today will that cause less impact to 205 and 11th during commutes? Less effective police- With a lower crime rate doesn't it follow the police are more effective? Decreased park services- The neighborhood residents decide what level of service they wish. More developers- Choices are the base of capitalism No new aquatics center or sports park- not for a lack of effort More homes on MacArthur- Unsure of what this means More chain stores and strip malls north of 205- All those businesses offering more choices are to be shunned? Less than a heathy environment for mom and pop shops to thrive. Mom and Pop survive fine by finding something customers need and delivering it.

"Dale, ... Second, you know TRAQC and Developer is not the same kind of special interest group. ...TRAQC is guided by the public interest. Therefore, it’s not only unfair but outright distortion of the truth to compare Souza/AKT and Serpa with TRAQC." Apparently the questions cannot be asked. Would that be comparing TRACQ to Orwell's 'Animal Farm' where some are more equal than others? When TRACQ came up with the growth numbers for Measure A... where did those numbers originate from? why those numbers? were there studies to back them?
Think about this Mark and Archie both sit on the board for a bank in town. So you keep stating no DA deals everything for the towns people. Will last time I heard banks are in the bus of making Money so what deals do you think two lawyers are going to come up to line their pockets.LAWYERS AND POLITICS = LITTLE GUY GETS SCREWED.
MAD RABID ATTACK DOG SCARRYLARRY wow thats pertty cool I like that. I would rather be that the a right wing loser. Attack dogs stop thives from stealing our rights
How can someone try to promote job growth and slow growth at the same time? Then again, how can someone try to get a State Park (Carnegie) closed that incourages jobs and generates revenue? Anyway, I seriously doubt Celeste Garamendi will get anything accomplished that others could not have done. Thats why she does not deserve our votes. She tried before and failed and history tends to repeat itself. We'll get our sports park, when there is no more corruption in the way. By the way, even if she "could" bring in more jobs to Tracy, what knowledge does she have that others in big government do not have? Right now the economy is suffering nationwide, why focus on Tracy? If she has all the answers to our economic woes, she ought to be running for a bigger position, like President. I rest my case.
To piggy back off my previous comment; I'd rather keep the current crowd in place because then I'd know what to expect. This Celeste Garamendi person is just riding the coat tails of her famous brother. I would expect someone ruining (intentional spell error) for public office, to use their married name like other "real" politicians do. You don't see Hillary changing her name to her brothers name, or Obama using his wifes' name do you? Think twice about that one. What or who is connected to the other name?
I have met Ms. Garamendi and she seems like a decent person, but I don't like the way she and her husband have misrepresented the good work that has been done by our city leaders, past and present. They talk about "out-of-control" growth and poor planning but I have lived here for over 30 years and believe that the growth has been very well planned. Without exception, friends and family who visit Tracy comment on what a nice community we have. If you want to see poor planning, take a look at Manteca and Lathrop. Measure A was a mistake, in my opinion, and I believe Celeste and the special interest group she represents have been guilty of exaggeration and misrepresentation in building their case to stop growth in Tracy and discredit our current city leaders. I am sure there are well-meaning people who support Celeste and "The Alliance", but I am very suspect of several of the most vocal members and wonder if what they are really interested in is protecting their own property from encroachment and/or their lust for political power.
Ms. Garamendi you have my vote. I voted for you in the past and will continue to put my trust in you. You have stood for us at City Council meetings without being paid. Tucker hides emails from the people to cover what? Ives was backed by Pombo last time even though there were questions about Pombo money being used for Ives to run for Mayor. He isn't any different then Bilbrey was when he held the position. I think what we need is for all candidates to publish a list of were the money comes from that they are using for campaigning. Then we can see who is backing who. Let's call this fair and transparent. This may help us make a better choice in who we vote for. I know that Celeste ran on a shoestring budget last time. I don't want to have someone in office who buys the position. We need someone like Celeste who will get things done.
You have my vote.
Ubbo, It's 2008 Neanderthal man, would you like us to give up our right to vote too? FYI, when you get married you can actually CHOOSE to retain your own last name. Getting elected in Tracy has been all about name recognition for as long as I can remember (God forbid we would decide based on the issues), so I hope it will help Celeste to defeat the 17 year Ives and 10 year Tolbert. As for your other statement that you want to keep the status quo, you know what to expect from them. Incompetence, yeah let's keep that going, NOT! Celeste has a plan for Tracy, why don't you open up your mind and study her platform, then decide.
Is it true that Mayor Ives is under investigation for ethical something? I remember reading about it here quite awhile ago. Have the ethics people completed their investigation and concluded something?
Sorry for the vagueness, but searching for the information on the web and in the TP website was fruitless. DDAD
I have to agree with Ubbo, and I said those same things last week. Why didn't she have her coming out party at her house? Oh, nevermind, wink wink.
For Christy, If Mayor Ives and Councilperson Tolbert have been so bad for Tracy, why have they been in office for a combined over 27 YEARS?????????? She going to 'build jobs' that means expand......or GROWTH!!!!! Looks like she is going to raise the rent on that house on 12th St.
Our water rates went up 20%. Bad sign of things to come from the bunch in power.
What did I get for my 20%? Man, that has to be a boatload of money. What are we going to get? I say throw out the bad bananas, they are stinking up the whole bunch. That is why I will vote for Mrs. Garamendi.
The crew in power spent 3 and a half million dollars of OUR MONEY and 5 years of MY KIDS TIME fooling around.
Kick the fools out! For loves sake, the voters of Tracy can surely see the spiritual and social corruption that has bedeviled our city government for so long. Thank Dios that we have a choice, and a distinct choice. Enough of the foolishness. I will vote for Mrs. Garamendi, too.
Yes, Ives is under investigation. The way he works in the past is to do business in Tracy.. You hire his consulting firm to have him soak you and your wallet, then when you item is before the council he will support and vote for your project... You also have to donate regularly to his re-election...
When you sink, we will let you swim alone! Better swim well!
We know who we are voting for, we KNOW who YOU are voting for!

Oakland Tribune, Feb 6, 2007 by Mike Martinez [former] Rep. Richard Pombo, spent more than $200,000 HATPAC money in October [2007] to help Tracy Mayor Brent Ives defeat Celeste Garamendi...
Christy, First thank you for recognizing I am a Neanderthal man (as I recall women didn't have names back, but thats pretty inconsequential isn't it?).
After you re-learn to read and then write, go back and see what Celeste said. She said "“We’re going to focus on building jobs.” now how can she do that if other leaders cannot? Wouldn't that be a wasted talent? Better yet, how can you build jobs when you support slow growth? In order to build or attract jobs, you need to expand or grow. I'll check in on you later during the Bronze Age. I hope every voter takes the time to thoroughly research and understand what each candidate is trying sell us. This is one bill of goods that we may not want to accept.
I have time to look through the archives this morning. If you see me sitting on the porch typing be sure to waive.
One of the things I found is that there is going to be a "$9.6 million shortfall between revenue and expenditures for 2008-09." $9,600,000 in the red, for one year. They tell us that all is well. Really? Does not feel well to me. How about you? $9.6 M in the red, and these guys have been in office for ten and sixteen years? They didn't see this coming and budget accordingly? They were wrong to put us in the red $9,600,000 dollars. I won't vote for them again. This time I'm voting for Mrs. Garamendi. You too? Bless you.
UBBO! Get freaking real!
Under HONEST leadership we would have launched ourselves into the future, developers were standing in the way of our future. SLOW GROWTH IN BUILDING HOUSES is what Garamendi is talking about. NOT about slow growth in business! Energy should have been focused on recruiting businesses to Tracy 27 years ago. Get real, or sink with them!
Celeste is totally missing the point. The good people of Tracy have been asking, requesting and almost short of demanding; a sports park. Now it would reasonable that she would make that her key selling point. And IF she was really sincere about it, she would make a promise that IF she couldn't keep her promise, then she would step down. Every person in Tracy needs to remember that the Mayor and for that matter the ENTIRE city council work for us. If we as their employer are not satisfied, we should be able to fire them. That is how it works in the real world at least. We should all demand results. If the results are not satisfactory, then we put them on notice, after a short time of remedial training, if the results are not greatly improved, then its time to move on. I wonder if any candidate would own up to that process? Build a sports complex for Tracy. If you build anything else before that (i.e. more empty homes that bring false promise and attract crooked salespeople) your'e out on your butt. Can you make that promise Celeste? How will you attract jobs and lessen the commute rate? How do you fix an ailing economy that the entire nation feels? If you truly have the answers, you ought to look at Washington DC for a job. They need those answers.
Yeah they saw it coming and dumped a bunch of money into the city center. Boy, tracy sure feels more grown-up now, doesn't it? 9.6 million deficit and all. Almost like that city that just went bankrupt. All grown up.
Yeah, they saw it coming and dumped a bunch of money into elitism while our parks fail, into cushy chairs while our kids are afraid to play in the parks. Well, the elitists are standing alone, naked, only the emperor's clothes to protect them, clothed in $9.6 million of red ink. It's a bloodbath for some of us, and they're running for reelection. I have 9.6 million reasons for voting Garamendi.
Mr. Cody,
Spend accordingly. Do not collect too many taxes and plan to deficit spend. That is what a gentleman would do. Is that what you would do?
To be clear, Mr. Cody, would you deficit spend? Would you collect more taxpayer money than necessary so you could float your scheme at the taxpayer expense. at the expense of our retired mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, grandfathers and mothers?
Mr. Ives and his group are no gentlemen. They have scabrously lead our city into its own little economic calamity, and that makes me want to question their motives. You won't join me, Mr. Cody? Spend sparingly and collect fewer taxes from all of us, particularly the indigent. Don't you agree, Mr. Cody? Shouldn't the big boys pay their own way and leave the rest of us at peace?
THEY COULD HAVE FOCUSED THEIR ENERGY ON RECRUITING BUSINESSES TO TRACY 27 YEARS AGO!!! WE WOULD BE IN BETTER SHAPE THAN WE ARE RIGHT NOW! GET REAL!
Gentleman Jim, I would be looking at what the people want. Sports complex is one (the money is there and so is the land) and next I would be looking at what other cities are doing and not doing. Vallejo is a prime example. Tracy is not immune from that type of event occuring. Lastly, as for jobs, I would be trying to attract huge solar companies so we could save money by using "renewable" energy. San Jose is doing something like that. Imagine attracting a company to come in build its product with a firm commitment. I don't know anything deficit spending. I would be a terrible leader because I would listen to my people and I wouldn't have any hidden agendas. I see and hear the need right now. High gas prices, no sports complex, and high paid city employees. Slow growth has to be eliminated to a cetain degree to allow jobs so people are not paying their work to go to work, use the Holly Site to build a state of the art sports complex and reduce some of these ridiculous high paying jobs that probably could be done a lot cheaper by college interns looking for work experience. I would push for privitization for alot of high paying city jobs. Work performance evaluation and a bidding process. Mr Coty (note the "t" in there!)
Interesting, somethings I didn't know. 27 years is a long time.
I agree you need to bring more business to Tracy, but right now, we are looking at the end result of 27 years of their term, and the economic status of our country. I can only suggest we use this time to think of ways to bring in revenues from tourists who want to visit Tracy for their recreational pursuits such as walking or biking around the wetlands whereever they decide to place it. I don't care where anymore, just put it there. Holly site to me is the best place to incorporate wetlands, in between Agriculture museum (not my idea, picnic area with bike rental shop, and on the outside an attractive sportspark. Gas is horribly expensive and from the reports I read from oil news it is not going to get any lower. Iran is OPEC's biggest oil producer and their price will affect all prices at home. So people want to save on gas, be less dependent on gas. Maybe even a golf course way outside of the sportspark, all in proximity of each other, but not so close, "go green". The reason I said this is because we need visitors wanting to see the town and its charm, to
bring in the revenue to offset the loss from homeowners who lost their homes and rising number in closings of the businesses. Time to think of ways to bring in revenue to get our city back in the black.
I wasn't too happy when the city asked for 15 million dollars in CREDIT for the downtown project... put freeze on the spending, the war is going on and war on price of oil is still ongoing. It bothered me that the city council didn't think to put a freeze on the expenditures. Don't know if that came through or not.
Mr.Coty:
I guess you will not be joining us at the table of humility. Many of us have seen the excesses of the current, substantially uninterupted administration, and the poison those excesses have produced. Strip bare your arguments. Deficit spending is just another tax, and taxes ALWAYS hurt most the poorest among us, simply because there are so many of us. Deficit spending and 20% rate increase on water. More backdoor taxes. You are in favor of these things Mr. Coty. Shame on you. Don't turn your back on the poor and jobless, the foreclosures. Stop asking for more money. Stop it. Straighten up and get on board, for goodness sake. Look who needs your help. Help them. Be a man, then you can be a gentleman. Seek humility before it finds you sleeping your dreams only to wake to the reality of a growing disparity between the weak and the strong. Abolish the oligarchy and vote for Mrs. Garamendi, for goodness sake.
Yes, she says all these nice things now but does she say how she will do it? Or is she doing exactly what she is against and that is being secretive? All I am suggesting is that we be very extremely careful in our choices. I want to see positve results. I am very worried about the state of our economy. We should all be looking at Vallejo and what is happening there. The answer is not in selling off land that we own either. Tracy has a very good opportunity to generate revenue and build a sports complex. The enviromentalists will be our biggest obstacle.
I don't believe I EVER said I was in favor of raising taxes, please don't put words in my mouth. And speaking of being a man, who are you? Whom am I conversing with? Someone hiding behind a fake name? Are we cowards? I am real, are you? I don't want any more crooks in Tracy, especially in public office. I can create jobs, very easily. I would simply privitize some if not all of these high paid city jobs. I would attract renwable energy companies to set up shop here in town and request they hire from within. I would not go searching for employees on the other side of the country. Surely they could have done better than that! Should I divulge any more information that would help you do your job? I could be 100% wrong about all of this too, and I know that and am willing to admit that. In todays day and age, i don't think anyone single person can "man up" and say they have all the answers. I don't think any one person can say I am 100% wrong either. We need to try new things, and new ideas. Think out side of the triangle!
Teenagers do need a place to go to in Tracy. Paintball alley, skateboarding, like the article in this paper about teenager dancing... the young "scientist" could get together and show their remote invention, compete and such. They need someplace loud and full of activity. Even bungee if they want it!
We need more input from teenagers, they will be our voters sometime soon.
Hey, stop your squabbling. Get back to your desks and get to work.
I found more stuff here. The guys in the office showed me the websites and all. It says here that Mr. Ives and his crew want to give the Ellis and Surland people 3850 permits, and only 3542 are available for ten years, 2012-2022. Doesn't that mean Ellis and Surland people will be in charge of all building in the city until 2022? If so, that sounds crazy to me. And not just me. The guys who showed me this stuff at work don't even get mad. They just laugh, but i want to tell you this really ticks me off. While I'm here, who are you Mr. Coty? Why are you so godawful important? Quit complaining. Jeez.
Sorry to keep jabbering. Did you know the Civic Center Plaza cost at least $26 million dollars?
What were they thinking? Mr. Ives, Mrs. Tolbert and their bunch spent $26 million on government without giving us better government. We got nothing for our money. Can you believe they spent $26 million? And hey, Mr. Coty, those are the guys you are defending, your buddies, pals, friends. Sleep well.
Did I say I was defending them? Where did I say that?
You obviously must be in CG's back pocket. I did say that we might as well keep what we have becasue then we would know what we are getting, and by that I mean nothing. Do you honestly think CG will change anything or get anything done that others have not? Can I sell you my broken car? Cheese with that whine? You gotta kind of keep up with me if you can. And yes I am important, in fact. I am a father and a husband and a voter. I also know that I can voice my opinion, just like you can.
Why in the world do we have Pat Sajak running Tracy trying to give it away?
Send Sajak back to Wheel of Fortune.
You bullies leave Coty alone.
C'mon Coty, run for Mayor. These other candidates don't have the right mix. Let's see lower taxes, check slower growth, check more jobs, check green, check no combat zone, check sports park, check water park, check What more do we need or want? Ubbo Ubbo Ubbo
Garamendi has done nothing for Tracy. Traqc is a pipe dream. And her husband's Connolly ranch is too close to the park off of Tesla Road.
So Celeste Garamendi OPPOSES PARKS. No on Garamendi-Connoly. Also Garamendi is a member of TRAQC. An organization that promotes "SLOW GROWTH" under the moniker "smarter growth". Another acronym for Pro-choice???) No on Garamendi. No on change for the sake of change. No on circular reasoning. No on Garamendi!!!
Very funny, bunch of comedians. Its all good, because later, you'll see I was right. Again, I remind you; pay very close attention to what is happening in Vallejo. And while you're at it, read the local newspaper about all the gang activity in Tracy. All I'd like to see is a change in the way things are done. Lets give the mayor-elect a goal and time-frame to which that goal has to be accomplished. If its not met, do what anyother business would do, fire him/her. Some call it probation, I like to call it one year.
People say that there is too much politics in Tracy and they always point to Pombo, but I haven't seen Pombo's name in the Tracy Press for years.
So before we cut our noses off to spite our faces.... ... let's not forget the Garamendi-Connoly connection... Also let's not forget the TracyPress-Garamendi-Connoly connection. I wonder why she always gets her name in the paper??? Looks biased -- like someone is taking sides here??? Just wondering??? Questions, questions, questions....
Slow growth is another way of politily cramming the idea that Tracy will not be getting a Trader Joes for M-A-N-Y years to come.
Slow growth sucks! Tracy needs business. And Garamendi hasn't done anything to bring business to Tracy. Garamendi has had a L-o-N-G time to do something with nothing to show, except finger pointing. Yes, what Garamendi has done for Tracy is to point her fingers. She has been pointing her witchy fingers (my opinion) at the idea of Tracy growing "too much" (her opinion). Reality check: there is already slower growth in Tracy. So we citizens are concluding, that we NOW, DO NOT need Garamendi, by stating the following: There is no need for slow growth. There is a need for more business. There is no need for Garamendi!!! (and change just for the sake of change, is just political rhetoric from the Garamendi's who point to the Pombos [very thin and weak argument]) Tired of the rubbish??? Me too! No on Garamendi!
http://www.baynature.com/2005j...h2005.html
read this website about halfway down, and then think about CG is trying prevent growth and why. Enviromentalists are the biggest problem Tracy faces. If CG is reading this blog/comment maybe she could in her own words explain to us what she is really setting out to accomplish. Don't be shy, now is not the time for that, especially when elections are approaching. And people, can we use real names in here? We're all adults right? its only fair to know who you are talking to, right? I am for one getting sick of all these little name games people are playing. Very cowardly.

I haven't seen Pombo's name in the paper for years. What I have seen is people saying "$200,000" in the forum. Again, to dig up something from years gone by is "thin and weak". Probably just means that Garamendi wasn't worth anyone writig that big a check. Is her brother (politician garamendi) writing a check? Is her husband (lawyer connoly) writing a check? Is I wasting my money to write a check? Like I said - Nope on Garamendi!!!
Lets ask Mr Pombo to come back and be mayor. Jerry Brown bounced all over California government, and in some ways he did some good. It can be done.
RICHARD POMBO for Mayor!!
Wow that sure was an eye opener. Garamendi opposed that park!!!
http://www.baynature.com/2005j...h2005.html And to think she states that one of her objectives is a park in Tracy? What a connoly-flict???
Ooooh, Ubbo.
Getting tired? Take a nap. I read that Mayor Ives and Councilwoman Tolbert even voted against an ethics statute. Ives and Tolbert voted against Ethics in government. How about you, Ubbo? Are these your friends?
http://www.insidebayarea.com/p...loopback=1
"But the mayor cited the council's willingness to set budget priorities that include no layoffs of city employees and maintaining current levels of service by dipping into reserves over the next five years." Five years of deficits. Almost 10 million this year, then four years more deficits? Sure, Pombo and Richpac will fix this. Vote Pombo/Ubbo?
You're kidding? Pombo (Ives'"friend") is under investigation along with Delay and Abramhoff and you don't want any more crooks???? You surely must be jesting, Ubbo Coty. Otherwise, you would have killed your credibility.
Ethics?? By that logic TRAQC has prevented jobs in Tracy.
No on Garamendi! "ooooohs" logic dictates that she is unethical.
Deficit Gov.,
wtf??? You're kidding right? Weren't you the same clown that was complaining about no jobs in Tracy? How can you blame it on Ives when he is the one not cutting jobs in Tracy??? What has Garamendi done to keep jobs in Tracy? Nothing! Didn't Garamendi oppose a park. More cuts? No on Garamendi!

Me? Tired? No way! I am just starting to have fun! I'll get around to others in a bit. Its simply amazing what is on the internet these days, and to think it is all public information too! I don't have friends in city politics, and I intend to keep it that way. My goal is find the perfect candidate who listen to the people, and do what is right. Too long now, we (Tracy's residents)have been strung along by false promises and people with hidden agenda's who do not have the best interests for Tracy. I do not believe Celeste Garamendi is perfect candidate. I see too many conficts of interests in her backround. Do you honestly think for one second she is really going to get a sports complex built under her watch? Why wait? Work it now! I know some people here in town, who are truly dedicated to seeing a sports complex getting built. Her name is NOT on that list! Since attracting jobs is not likely until the economy heals, why not mention building a sports complex as a priority instead of stringing people along with the flase pretense that she can create jobs. Can she walk on water too?
I don't think Garamendi has done anything to create jobs in Tracy. Ive's didn't want to reduce jobs in Tracy and her supporters criticized him for keeping jobs. Sound two-faced???

quote from some person called Pete "She probably wants to protect the value of her property for future development. Does she know what goes on across the road from Carnagie at Site 300? IIRC Corral Hollow Creek is seasonal or at best a triclke except when it rains. More tree hugger BS." Do you think there is a hidden agenda somewhere in here?
Some people want you to believe "they" need Celeste. Those same people want you to believe that Tracy needs...
What Tracy needs is jobs! Changing "slow growth" to "smarter growth" is silly game of semantics. Measure A was the doing of TRAQC. What they don't tell you is that Tracy is not doing as bad as other cities. Want a Trader Joes? Want jobs? Vote no on Garamendi! Want Valejo? Vote Garamendi! Me, I wouldn't want to bankrupt this city too. Folks, Tracy is doing fine, and let's just keep it that way!
The City Council for the past 15 years has “focused on building houses,” she charged. “We’re going to focus on building jobs.”
Building Houses is one of the greatest Job Creators. What Is this carpetbagger mean?? that She will tax Us to death and Create Socialist Jobs...Special favor Jobs... Jobs that "Take" tax Money. The More Houses we build, the More Jobs there are, and tax Revenues, and people spending Money here in tracy....lets face it celeste and her Husband are carpetbagger socialists who want to infiltrate tracy and convert it into their "Utopian" world that translates to Oppressive taxation and a Burdensome Government. She is just another version Of Hillary Clinton and that is realy Scarry!!!
The Current City council is doing a fine job...Celeste is typical of Pinko Democrats...they find Tiny flaws and scream to the mountain tops of "Corruption"....but She will show Tracy How to realy do it...
watch tracy go bankrupt.
Ubbo is right on the money heres a short list of the pay in democrat vallejo Some Vallejo muni salaries: a Tracy garamendi Future....?

Steve, It means she wants developers to pay for more. However, in this economy she is talking smoke. Aka political rhetoric that will never be realized. It is like Hillary saying oil companies will pay for it and reduce oil prices at the same time. Simply a joke. One after another with this type... The reality is that both Hillary and Celeste have something in common. Carpetbaggers? You said correct. |
