Bulldogs golfers shoot low at The Reserve at Spanos Park to move deeper into the postseason. Tracy High’s golf team will move on to the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament next Tuesday after the team finished the Division I South tourney in third-place Monday at The Reserve at Spanos Park. Monday’s competition included the top teams from the San Joaquin Athletic Association, Tri-City Athletic League, Central California Conference and Modesto Metro Conference. The top three teams to move up to Masters are the TCAL’s St. Mary’s, in first place with a 385; second-place Turlock of the CCC, which posted a 398; and Tracy, coming in with a 402. Tracy also had two golfers among the top-six individual scorers for the day: Anthony Manguray, 73; and Shane Conner, 74. The lowest score was 69, shot by Sam Smith of Turlock. Manguray and Danny Garcia of St. Mary’s tied for second, but on the hole selected as the tie-breaker, Garcia had birdied while Manguray parred. Conner’s score gained him a fourth-place finish. Bobby Parks of Los Banos and Teddy Schrier of Buhach Colony tied for fifth with 75s. Tracy’s other scores were Kirk Leopoldo’s 84, Joey Sefcik’s 85, Jake Pineo’s 86 and Dallas Lopez’s 86. They will compete at Stevinson Ranch Golf Course on Tuesday for the Sac-Joaquin Section title and a place in the California Interscholastic Federation Northern California Tournament at Richmond Country Club on May 19. Three teams and four individuals from the section will go to the regional competition. West High had three golfers in the subsection tournament, but none was among the top six who qualified for the Masters tournament as individuals. Daniel Ojeda shot 84, Brett Steele 92 and Chris Hernandez 97.
