The Falcons lost their last game, but their first full season in the Harvest Christian League was a learning experience.
It was the last game of the season for the Falcons, who went 1-8 in their first year in the Harvest Christian League. It was the third season in which the high school has had a baseball team, and the first year of league play saw the team in its most games yet. In all, the Falcons went 6-17, including preseason and tournament games. Assistant coach Drew Reyes said that with the last home game as the traditional senior day, the team honored Jonathan Beringer, who has played on the team since its first season. On Tuesday, he pitched for part of an inning, and he has played every position on the field for his team. He went into Tuesday’s game with a .316 batting average, second on the team behind junior Jake Vierra with .414. Vierra finishes the season leading the HCL in base hits with 28 for the season. Reyes said the season ended with some injuries among starting players, including Chris Ybarra, who hurt his arm, Jonny Rojas, who had a broken nose in the Falcons’ April 24 home game against Brookside, and Josh Moore, who was out with a broken ankle. The three other teams in the HCL, Elliot Christian, Big Valley Christian and Brookside, will go to playoffs next week against other Division VII teams from the Mountain Valley League and Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League. (F) Tracy 10, Lincoln 0 The Tracy High team got doubles from James Fisher, Aaron Walker, Casey Wichman and Jacob Wilson to lead the team to another win Monday in an undefeated SJAA season. Tracy is now 9-0 in league play and 19-1-1 overall. Pitcher Joshua Wesley shut out the Trojans in six innings. The Bullpups also got base hits from Andy Levand, Nick Camper and Tyler Daily.
