Soccer team seeks players

Tracy Futbol Club’s Under-10 girls’ competitive soccer team seeks players. The team is open for girls born between Aug. 1, 1997, and July 31, 1998. The team will play in Under-11 matches starting in August.

Golf benefit

The Wicklund and Bethany School Foundations will host the fourth annual Mountain House Golf Tournament on May 17 at Tracy Golf & Country Club.

The tournament will be a four-person scramble format with prizes for first place and last place, plus prizes for the longest drive and closest to the hole contests. There will also be tee and raffle prizes. A hole-in-one contest will feature a $10,000 prize, and players could also win a Dell desktop system, a Bose stereo system, and a set of Ben Hogan irons.

Check-in will start at 11 a.m., and shotgun start is at 1 p.m. The $99 fee includes green fees, cart fee, range balls, cart assignment tags, rules sheet, pin placement chart, tee prizes and lunch.

City summer softball leagues

The city of Tracy’s Parks and Community Services Department will accept registration for upcoming summer softball leagues through May 21. The city offers men’s, women’s and coed leagues.

Two new leagues are also planned: a men’s slow-pitch wood bat league and a youth girls fast-pitch league with two age divisions, one for players 12 and younger and the other for players 14 and younger.

Olympic softball visit

The U.S. Olympic women’s softball team will drop by Stockton on May 22, during the team’s tour of the country leading up to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing in August.

The team will be at Arnaiz Fields at Morada Lane and Holman Drive for a 7 p.m. game against an Amateur Softball Association college All-Star team coached by University of the Pacific head coach Brian Kolze.

The team will be in batting practice before the game and will stay after the game to meet fans and sign autographs.

West hosts basketball camp

West High School will host the 20th annual Steve Thornton Wolf Pack Summer Basketball Camp from June 2 to 13. There will be two camps: one in the mornings, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for high school players, and another in the afternoons, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., for elementary and middle school players.

Each camp is 10 sessions, Monday through Friday, in the school’s air-conditioned gyms at 1775 W. Lowell Ave. Sessions include offensive and defensive skill-building, team competitions and daily contests. The cost of $100 per participant includes a camp T-shirt.

Golf clinics

Stripes Practice Center, 20065 S. MacArthur Drive, just north of town, will host one-hour golf clinics Saturdays through May 24.

Junior clinics for ages 6 to 14 are from noon to 1 p.m. and adult clinics are 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person and includes range balls.

Baseball players needed

The Tracy Blues travel baseball team is looking for players ages 9 through 11 for the spring season. The team plays in local tournaments, which begin in May.

Volleyball camp

Tracy High School is taking signups for its ninth annual Volleyball Camp, which will run from 3 to 6 p.m. June 3 to 5 in the main gym at the high school, 315 E. 11th St.

The $70 cost will include coaching tips from some of Tracy High’s past championship players, plus T-shirts for all participants. Campers age 10 through high school age are welcome and will be grouped by ability.

Softball signups 

Big League Dreams Sports Park, 1077 Milo Candini Drive, just off Airport Way in Manteca, is taking registration for spring softball leagues. Men’s, women’s and co-ed leagues are offered for all levels of play Sundays through Fridays.

Tumbling classes

Athletic Perfection Cheer Gym, 2211 MacArthur Drive, has tumbling classes for 4 through 18 year olds of all ability levels. Classes run Monday through Thursday. Cost is $12 per class.

Fitness at Studio Jazz

Studio Jazz, at 2123 N. Tracy Blvd. next to Fitness 19, offers fitness programs including Jazzercise, yoga, cardio-kick, body sculpting and personal training.  Morning, evening and weekend classes are available.

Gymnastics for kids

Classic Gymnastics, 3502 Mars Way, hosts classes for 3-year-old boys and girls at 9:30 a.m. Mondays and 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays. Additional days and times are available for all ages. Parents can call to set up a free trial class.

The gym offers an open session at 9 a.m. the first and third Fridays of each month. Children of walking age to 5 years old are welcome.
