Quick hits:

Not so Berzerkeley: Many ideas spawned in Berkeley — and roundly mocked by the rest of the country — have actually been adopted by cities everywhere. Among them: police radios, a ban on Styrofoam, health benefits for domestic partners and a switch to biodiesel for city cars.

Numbers:

$4: It’s official. That’s the cost of gasoline in San Francisco. The city’s average price for a gallon of regular reached $4 on Saturday, according to the AAA of Northern California auto club. The average had been hovering pennies below that for about a week.

49: Percent of California’s children between 12 and 17 who have at least one immigrant parent, a phenomenon that could dramatically change the composition of the state’s electorate within several years, according to a report released Tuesday.
