The wins give both teams 9-1 records, Tracy in the San Joaquin Athletic Association, with Lincoln, the only team to beat the Bulldogs, in second place at 8-2.
West lost its match on the road against St. Mary’s to leave both teams with a 9-1 record. Since West won five of five matches when the two faced off on April 8 at West and St. Mary’s won three of five matches on its courts Thursday, West gets the first-place spot.
“They still sit in our shadow for another year, but it would have been nice to have beat them both times,” West coach Micheal Quintana said.
Both local teams are guaranteed places in the Sac-Joaquin Section team tournament, set for May 6.
On Thursday, Tracy swept the singles matches. Neil Thakor beat Jose Rojas, 6-1, 6-1; Quinn O’Brien beat Jose Diaz, 6-3, 6-2, and Chris Pope beat David Paniagua, 6-2, 6-2.
