West head coach Joe Raco said many of the school’s previous track and field standouts have graduated or didn’t come out for the team this year, which has left openings in some varsity events. But he added that both the boys and girls junior varsity teams have young talent that led to wins this week and bode well for stronger varsity teams in the future.
“Our future looks bright if the freshmen and sophomores stick with it and continue to improve,” Raco said.
Both JV teams are 3-0 in Tri-City Athletic League team standings; the varsity boys are 1-1-1 in TCAL, and the girls are 1-2.
