Following is a recap of action from men’s league play on April 11 and co-ed games on April 14.


Friday Night Men’s Advanced/Intermediate

East Bay BMW 9, Journey Christian 6: East Bay has been cruising through the Men’s Advanced/Intermediate Division with a two game lead over the field, but they were tested on April 11 by Journey Christian. Journey took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning. But BMW scored in the bottom of the fifth and added three more in the sixth, which enough to overcome Journey’s two run rally in the seventh.

Tracy Fire 14, Rusty’s 12: Tracy Fire scored seven in the first inning and scored enough the rest of the way to down Rusty’s and move in a second place tie in the standings with Sonic Interiors. After being down early, Rusty’s had a narrow 11-9 lead headed into the bottom of the fourth inning, but Tracy Fire bounced back to plate two in the bottom the fourth and put up three more to retake the lead.

Tracy Fire 18, Mavericks 2: Tracy Fire solidified their spot in the standings taking both ends of their double header on April 11. The dominated the Mavericks and rode a 10-run third inning to the win.

Sonic Interiors 7, Grating Pacific 2: Sonic Interiors moved into a three-way tie for second place in the standings with this hard fought defensive game. Sonic held a narrow 4-2 lead entering the final inning and scored three more in their final at bat to take the victory.

 

Friday Night Men’s Novice

Lil’ Help 14, One’s To Many 14: Lil’ Help entered the week with an opportunity to move into sole possession of first place.  Unfortunately, One’s Too Many was up to task and forced Lil’ Help to settle for a tie atop the standings. Lil’ Help held a 14-8 lead going into the bottom of the last inning. But One’s were able to score six in their last at bat to claim a tie game.

Free Agents 10, Calvary Chapel 5: The Free Agents held on to their spot tied for third in standings with this win.  The Agents scored 10 runs in their first two innings and rode them victory. Calvary scored four in the third and a one in the fourth, but were shut out in the last two innings.

Willbanks, Hays & Woods 18, New Life CC 11: WH&W maintained their position, tied for third, with a close win over New Life. New Life scored eight runs in their final two innings but it was not enough to overcome their deficit.

 

Monday Night Coed Intermediate

East Bay Construction 15, Bad Apples 14: East Bay construction enter the April 14 games in a tie for first place, but almost dropped a game to the Bad Apples in this exciting battle.  In the final inning, East Bay had built a comfortable 12-6 lead and looked to be on their way to easy victory. But in the top of the final inning the Bad Apples put eight runs on the board to take a 14-12 lead. East Bay bounced back with three runs to score the come-from-behind victory.

Tracy Mix 16, Team Loco 9: Tracy Mix kept pace with East Bay atop the standings with this win over Team Loco. Tracy Mix scored runs in every inning to pull away and take the win.

 

Monday Night Coed Novice

W’s 25, Underdogs 13: The division leading W’s played a double-header on April 14 and continued an undefeated season. In this game the W’s took on the second place Underdogs dashed the hopes of closing the gap in the standings with a resounding win. The W’s 12-run second inning all but did in the challengers.

W’s 15, Chix & Stix 10: Chix & Stix played a tight contest against the division leaders, but came up short in the end. The teams traded the lead through the contest and Chix & Stix held a 9-8 lead entering the final inning. The W’s were able to plate seven runs in the top of the final frame and hold Chix & Stix to one to pick up the win.

Journey Christian 27, Legends 3: Journey Christian used to huge innings to dispatch the Legends. Journey scored nine runs in the second inning and added thirteen more in the fourth to pick up their first win of the season.
