On Tuesday, West swept the Tokay Tigers of Lodi at home, though one of the singles matches and one of the doubles matches were tough wins for the Wolf Pack.

In singles, West’s Brett Spadoni beat Lawrence Valdez, 6-1, 6-1; Kevin Canoy beat Gordon Wong, 6-1, 6-3; and Jay Modi beat David Saito in three sets, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, and a tiebreaker, a 1-0 set with a 10-5 score.

In doubles, West’s Daniel de la Cruz and Parker Lewis beat Kyle Kemp and Marcus Wells in three sets, 6-1, 7-6, 7-5; and Luke Creasman and Jerome Oribello beat Kevin Cronin and Cody Goonan, 6-0, 6-1.

West is now 8-0 in the Tri-City Athletic League, with matches against Stagg today and against St. Mary’s on Thursday.

Tracy 4, Lodi 1

Tracy High’s tennis team won one of its toughest matches of the season with one match remaining in league play.

The Bulldogs beat Lodi 4-1 in Lodi on Tuesday, which puts Tracy in first place in the San Joaquin Athletic Association with an 8-1 record. Lodi is second at 7-2.

“It was a pivotal match for us,” coach Dean Reese said, adding that Thursday’s match against Franklin at home will be the Bulldogs’ chance to clinch the league title. Tracy’s only league loss this year was to Lincoln last month.
