West, Tracy host local swim meets

West High’s swim teams outscored opponents from McNair High on Friday at the Tracy High pool.

The team totals for the boys were West 88, McNair 57. West’s Richard Johannsen was first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of two minutes, 41.9 seconds. Callahan Burnell won the 100 butterfly with 1:19.75. Joshua Rhynes was first in the 100 freestyle with 1:02.42, and Daniel Pankratz won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:17.35.

The girls team totals were West 88, McNair 44. Katie Bertelson took first place in both the 200 freestyle (2:35.98) and 100 butterfly (1:19.25), and Danielle Daviscourt won the 100 freestyle with 1:00.24 and 100 breaststroke with 1:18.09.

Jennifer Porter’s time in the 100 freestyle, 1:00.24, qualifies her for the Sac-Joaquin Section meet next month in the freshman-sophomore division. Porter also took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:11.35. Kerri Carrick took first in both the 50 freestyle (28.62) and 500 freestyle (7:09.33).

West has two more meets at Tracy High on Wednesday against Stagg and against St. Mary’s on Friday before the Tri-City Athletic League meet April 25 and 26 at Tokay High.

The team totals were Lodi 90, Tracy 76 in the freshman-sophomore girls; Lodi 111, Tracy 62 in the varsity boys; and Lodi 133, Tracy 53 in the varsity girls.

Evan Goad finished in first place in the varsity boys 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:09.95 and Justin Nool took fourth place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:02.68 and third place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:13.12.

The varsity girls 200 medley relay team of Jenn Zimmerman, Alyssa Britt, Lindsey Sharpe and Nicole Brown took first place with a time of 2:04.37. Britt took first place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.82, and second place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.72. All are section qualifying times.

Nicole Brown came in second place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.89, and Samantha Phelps took fourth place in the 500 free with a time of 6:47.57.

In the freshman-sophomore girls Sheena Sharifi took second place in the 100 fly in 1:25.75, Jordan Walling was fourth place in the 100 fly with 1:26.87, Daryl Scott was first place in the 100 backstroke with 1:18.08, and Andi Huckaba took second place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:26.87.
