Youth bowling

West Valley Bowl will register boys and girls ages 6 through 18 for its summer youth bowling leagues. All youths who sign up will receive instruction on how to improve their games.

Signups will be from 9:45 a.m. to noon Saturday mornings today through May 3 and from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday afternoons April 14 through 28.

League play starts at 3:45 p.m. June 2 and at 9:45 a.m. June 7 and runs for 12 weeks until Aug. 18 and 23.

Cost is $108 for Monday or Saturday leagues or $180 to participate in both leagues. There is also a $14 fee for membership in the United State Youth Bowling Organization, which helps pay for awards at the end of the season.

Cheer team tryouts

The Athletic Perfection All-Star Cheer team tryouts for the 2008-09 season will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at 2211 MacArthur Drive.

Boys and girls ages 4 through 18 are welcome. Athletic Perfection will also start a special-needs team.

Cost is $25, and everyone makes a team.

Tritons tryouts

The Tracy Tritons Swim Club will host tryouts for the upcoming season from 9 to 11 a.m. April 19 at the Tracy High School swimming pool, 315 E. 11th St.

The team includes youths in age divisions that range from 6 and younger to 15- to 18-year-olds.

Meets will begin May 24 with the Tracy Invitational at Tracy High.

Youth gymnastics clinic

Tracy/West Gymnastics will host a gymnastics clinic for youths in first through eighth grades from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 19 at Classic Gymnastics, 3602 Mars Way, Ste. 113.

The clinic will include instruction in vault, uneven bars, balance beam, floor tumbling, and gymnastics dance. The $40 also includes a pizza lunch, a T-shirt and speakers.

Dance team auditions

The Tracy High dance team will host auditions for its 2008-09 team from 2:30 to 4 p.m. April 21, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. April 22 and 3:30 to 5 p.m. April 24.

Auditions will be at Triple Threat Performing Arts, 4220 Commercial Drive, Ste. 9. Dancers will perform at games, rallies, competitions and school functions. Pick up and return application at the bookeeper’s office at Tracy High no later than Thursday.

West High orientation

The West High Athletic Department will host its annual athletic orientation for all eighth-graders and their parents who are interested in participating in a sport at West High next year.

The orientation will begin at 7 p.m. April 22 in the West High main gym.

Athletic director Steve Thornton will give out information about all of the West High athletic programs and answer any questions athletes and parents have about sports at West High.

All of the Wolf Pack coaches will be there to sign kids up and to answer any questions about their sports.

Youth football

The Tracy Cougars will have youth football and cheer football signups from noon to 4 p.m. April 27 at Redbridge Community Park, 2935 Redbridge Road.

The registration fee of $45 is due at signups and must be cash or credit card only.

Golf benefit

The Wicklund and Bethany School Foundations will host the fourth annual Mountain House Golf Tournament on May 17 at Tracy Golf & Country Club.

The tournament will be a four-person scramble format with prizes for first place and last place, plus prizes for the longest drive and closest to the hole contests. There will also be tee and raffle prizes. A hole-in-one contest will feature a $10,000 prize and players could also win a Dell desktop system, a Bose stereo system and a set of Ben Hogan irons.

Check-in will start at 11 a.m. and shotgun start is at 1 p.m. The $99 fee, due by April 28, includes green fees, cart fee, range balls, cart assignment tags, bag drip, rules sheet, pin placement chart, tee prizes and lunch.
