Tracy High golfer Jake Pineo shot a 2-over-par 74 at the Reserve at Spanos Park on Monday to tie for the best individual score for 18 holes at the Bear Creek Tournament.
Pineo and Dan Garcia of St. Mary’s High went on to a tie-breaker, which Garcia won when he birdied the next hole and Pineo shot par.
Tracy came in fourth among 21 teams at the event with a team total of 410. Coach Derek Solano said it’s probably the team’s best showing at the annual tournament. First place in the team totals was Rocklin High, 386; second was St. Mary’s, 392; and third was Turlock High, 401.
Tracy’s top five scorers were Pineo, 74, Shane Conner, 76, Anthony Manguray, 82, Dallas Lopez, 87, and Zack Jackson, 94. West High finished in 11th place with a team total of 448. Daniel Ojeda shot 85, Brent Lewis 89, Dane DeJesus 89, Chris Hernandez 90 and Brett Steele 95.
Tracy’s other scores were Shane Conner’s 39, Jake Pineo’s 43, Kirk Leopoldo’s 43, Dallas Lopez’s 48 and Joey Sefcik’s 50. Franklin’s scores included Jesus Cazares, 45, John Fetsch, 51, Ajay Yadav, 61, Cameron Englehardt, 68, Alex Tamayo, 68 and Vicente Perez, 71.
West’s Daniel Ojeda shot 41 for his team’s best score. Others scores included Brett Steele’s 46, Brent Lewis’ 45, Dane De Jesus’ 48 and Chris Horn’s 47. St. Mary’s other scorers included Zakk Labeouf, 40, Beau Zastrou, 41, Colin Burke, 42, and Frank Esau, 42.
