A local woman shares her experience with restrictions on city park use.
EDITOR,
I just wanted to write and comment on the front-page picture on last week’s newspaper. There was a great picture of a man and his grandson flying a kite at Plasencia Fields. My boyfriend (56 years old) and I (55 years old), used to fly our kites there, too. Last year, we were flying our kites and were asked to leave by a city official. We were told that we needed to have a permit to “use” the field. I thought it was ridiculous, and still do, that I, being a resident of Tracy, cannot fly my kite in a park in the city I live in. I was told “not in that park."

• Editor’s note: A city parks employee said the policy has changed at Plasencia Fields and that kite flying is allowed, if the fields aren’t closed because of flooding or rented out to private parties.
