Have a real reason for choosing your candidate Print E-mail

A local man warns that Americans' egotism and "lame" decision-making mean inept government and dire consequences.

It never ceases to amaze me how anyone in this country ever decides which candidate to vote for. They say things like, “I like his/her choice of clothing, tie, shoes, smile, wife/husband, car, whatever,” as if that’s important.

Is this lame, or what?

Ask these same people what issues the candidates stand for, and they draw a huge blank and will attempt to say something to defend their position, which is usually incorrect or inaccurate. Some make an idiotic statement, such as, “My family has always voted Democratic/Republican, so I vote the way they do, and besides, my vote really doesn’t count, anyway.”

Yet these are the same people who will complain about everything the government is doing to them. They never take time to read, analyze or understand what is going on.

Our populace has become so self-centered and selfishly ingrained that no one is watching the store anymore. Our politicians are completely out of control, and we are rapidly becoming a socialist society, in which the inept government controls our very existence. This is a very dangerous time for us, and I’m sorry to say I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. We have no proven or real decisive leader in either party.

History has shown over and over that when people become complacent, vulnerable and non-defensive, they have been overrun by a stronger people and put out of existence. Human nature drives the need for some individuals to want to be in control of everyone. They attain power by intimidation and violence and obtain the loyalty of those of common mind. Think Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Hussein, Castro, Ahmadinejad, and many more to come. That’s the way it is.

Unless we get our priorities in order and make our defensive posture stronger, we will undoubtedly suffer the dire consequences of our actions. We have become too disorganized, and our soft underbelly is exposed to those who laugh at our efforts to exert our power. Just look around and see what we’ve become.

We need to act like the power we are and make the world see that we don’t fool around. Stop the “politically correct” baloney, and tell it like it is, or we will pay the price.

Apathy is high price to pay. Gullibility even higher, ignorance highest price!

Do your part in keeping our freedom strong, vote smart!

Take away the glowing eloquence on hope, unity, focus on the work track record, voting record, special interest involvement, promises broken, priorities, economy, answers.. ANSWERS.

Have any of them invested in military warfare? Hillary Clinton and Halliburton? McGain and Halliburton...? Or not, these things you need to know before voting for your country's next president.

WELL MY FREEDOM RINGS RIGHT NOW. I WOULD MUCH RATHER HAVE SEN. MCCAIN ANSWERING THE 911 CALL AT 3AM THAN CLINTON OR
E-S-P-E-C-I-A-L-L-Y THE MOST LIBERAL SMOOTH TALKER REV. J. WRIGHT, OOPS I MEAN OBAMA OR HIS WIFE WHO IS NOT PROUD OF OUR COUNTRY.

Obama sounds better behind the pulpit, on the political agenda, I don't think so.

I prefer straight shooter, not one to mince words when speaking of reality.... Hillary does not fit the bill.

Barack Obama is the first politician I've experienced in my lifetime who actually says something. He's legitimate. He's not a talking head for corporate interests. He didn't vote for the war twice -- and he knows the difference between Sunnis and Shi'ites. If he got a call at 3 a.m. McCain would probably nuke France by mistake.

Tough choice this election year? F

AND E-X-A-C-T-L-Y WHAT HAS OBAMA SAID HE WAS GONNA DO FOR US? BESIDES RAISING TAXES? WELL? HOW IS AMERICA GONNA PAY FOR EVERYBODYS FREEBEES? THAT GOES FOR CLINTON AS WELL. NUKING FRANCE WOULDN'T BE TOO BAD EITHER, IT WOULD WIPE OUT A LOT OF RADICAL ISLAM CHRISTIAN HATERS. OBAMA HASN'T GOT A CLUE. AT LEAST CLINTON HAS A IDEA. I WOULD RATHER HAVE A HOT TEMPER ON MY SIDE OF THE FENCE IN A GUN FIGHT THAN A NUT SINGING "EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFULL IN ITS OWN WAY". DID YOU HEAR WHAT ISLAM JUST COMMENTED ON? AS SOOOOON AS THE USofA LEAVES IRAQ THEY WILL BE AIMING AT ISREAL AND WILL GO FROM THERE. MCCAIN ISN'T A 100% ANSWER TO ALL BUT, I THINK HE IS THE BEST WE HAVE IN THIS DANGER ISLAMIST TIME.

Brilliance as usual from the never have left Tracy set. Obama's 'more perfect union' speech was the finest thing any American politician has dared to say since Kennedy. Sorry he wasn't blabbing about clearing brush; no wonder you haven't been listening. If it was too tough to follow maybe you can go have a beer with Bushie and ask him why China and Saudi Arabia now literally own this country. And take your white hood with you.

newsflash, Obama only made that speech to do damage control after his beloved reverand was exposed for being delusional and basically anti-American. Again, Obama and his band of obsequious followers are a danger to this country. As Bill O' Reilly would say, "wise up sir".
amy, I agree with a lot of your opinions but how can you and others say we are less safe? We have not been attacked since 9/11. When are all the Liberals going to admit that our government has done a GREAT job of protecting us? We can't run around trying to appease other countries so they will like us. Look at history, appeasement is a dangerous thing. I don't want any more of our troops to die for me but because they are, I for one feel completely safe on US soil.

I said we are less safe, due to the fact we don't know who is coming over the border via Mexico or through the ports.

Granted that homeland security seems to be working, but we cannot let our guard down, our troops would not expect less of us.

We did not expect 9/11. Is it safe to say we won't have another attack? I cannot predict that and I cannot say we are 100 percent safe. I don't want anymore loss of life there either, but I will not be blind to the cause of it.

Many people feel so safe on their own soil, but the war became faceless to us, real nevertheless. We must remember there is a war going on,and that there are fanatics abroad and here as well. (Oklahoma Bombing).

Did I miss something? We DID expect 9/11. The numerous security warnings W. received, including the August memo that said, "Al Qaeda wants to fly planes into buildings," does that ring a bell?

I would argue we are less safe. Our dollar is worth less. Our spending value is way down. Our manufacturing jobs are vanishing. We are ripe for a depression. We have spent over a trillion dollars on a needless foreign war, and have ruined our image as the onetime world hegemon with the bungling of both the Afghan and Iraqi conflicts. AND Saudi Arabia and China both own BILLIONS in American debt.

Thanks a ton, whomever's been in office since 2001. Glad to see you cleared the brush, though.

And no, the answer to "Whom is the U.S.'s closest European ally now that Spain and the U.K. threw out their W-friendlies" is .... well, go ahead and google Sarkozy. You'll be shocked! You'll never look at Freedom Fries the same way again!!

And there's a vast difference between appeasement and diplomacy. You don't need to call in an airstrike to get rid of an anthill. Remember speaking softly and carrying the big stick? Worked before. Why not again?

Vote for the one who is keenly aware of class warfare.

We may not get our jobs back, but vote for the one with vision for the future as in creating jobs in alternative energy, we have technicians waiting to be employed. Factories could be put back into operation in building of these solar panels or alternative energy.. Job market would have opened up, but corporations are sneaky smart, they are hiring foreign technicians at much lower wages, keeping our citizens unemployed... will they continue this practice if and when they decide to switch over to alternative energy? Hire the Americans or foreign workers?

Nafta was a bad move, and remember who was standing behind Bill Clinton who was responsible in the signing of it. Bush Sr. and his administration drafted it.

Big Energy department does not want to see this happen as of this date, changes may happen when people's empty pocketbook starts affecting theirs.

McGain, has not met my total approval, the 100 year war, at what cost? Is China going own us if we could not repay their debt, at what collateral did USA use to get the loan from China? Collateral?

Since I am an Independent, I can tell you this since I don't have to worry about offending either party, our economy will be the death of our country if we don't vote wisely.

This is the most difficult time for me as well as for many, trust in parties have been shaken, Obama was untried and although he did provide words of hope, that is not enough to carry USA through this economic crisis and the world situation. Not a pleasant feeling to be aware of. Just being very cautious.

Tell China they already got their bill paid in full. Then when they say WTF? Tell them to keep all their US Dollars, as payment. Have the next US President change the American currency to look something more like Euros. The US can go in on it with Canada. Perhaps we will join with Mexico too? But first wait to see what the next Fox does.

Hang on tight! It's going to be a bumpy ride!

Those are all big reasons I'm going with Obama. In a perfect world we'd have a Mike Gravel, but McCain and Billary both are too closely aligned with the Bigs. Big energy, big oil, big farm, big pharm, big industry. I don't see change with Hill or Mac.

Hope they don't nuke the French. But, don't worry, nobody at the Whitehouse would wake that old bull-dog at 3AM anyway. Anyway, even if they did, it might help the US Dollar against the Euro. Hey, if nothing else we could drink California grapes and finally call it "Champaign"

Wouldn't that be good for the wine industry? And California might move up a notch from seventh largest economy. Somewhere back closer to the third largest economy, where we used to be.

Hmmm... Didn't you see how McCain (bull-dog) almost took the Romney's head off? We need a president who can go toe-to-toe with Osama Bin Laden. Imagine Hillary over there with a Burkha flailing on BinLaden. She might trip on her flip-flops and hurt the nation. Or Obama. Osama would eat him for breakfast, but he's too thin. Is Bill the only one who can see through this guy's smooth talk? But, these fairy tails are not amusing anyone, yet!

Cheers!

But for humor, we'll just have to wait till Obama and McCain go toe-to-toe!

Hope they will STICK with the issues and present the plans to solve the problems facing USA today.

Lets just keep Bush, so we can keep all the people that voted for him happy.I bet he could finish destroying this country in another 8 years and then nobody would have to worry about who to vote for ever again!
