A frequent letter writer weighs in on the presidential race.

EDITOR,

I have a rather large extended family, along with friends, living in the U.S. and Mexico. Many have told me that the past seven years under President George “Brain Dead” Bush have not been great. Only the wealthy and well connected are doing well.

Here we are in 2008, with a war that has cost more than 4,000 American lives and billions of dollars. We are paying nearly $4 for a gallon of gasoline, while Bush gave all the oil companies tax breaks and broke our wallets. Our home values are lost, and our economy is in great jeopardy.

Meanwhile, President Bush and Sen. John McCain claim all is well. This sounds like Herbert Hoover in 1929, just before the stock market crash and the start of the Great Depression.

At least, Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton see the harm, the danger and the hurt this is doing to the American people. These two want to act, while Bush and McCain do nothing.

In November, please engage your mind and intellect when you vote. The future of our nation is at stake.

Where to begin....
Al's ignorance is "Typical" of his kind.
like all Leftist Democrats. blame all the wrong people..
if Al thinks the Democrats will save America... They will squander Billions for "Pet" leftist Projects that do nothing.
Barack has been caught lying about His radical Leftist Ties,
And Hilliary also Caught In Her "running from Sniper fire"
Bulloney...These are the Choices that Al wants for president. one of Two pathological Liars.
By the way Al, the Oil companys make about 17 cents profit per gallon, and they Pay all the costs of getting it here and processing it, then Al's Leftist federals charge 60 cents tax per gallon......who's the greedy crooks?
Al's democrats thats who.

Mr. Reshakis;

If I am ignorant, you are stupid. Then where do we live. (TRACY)
I am a conservative republican, a retired U.S. Navy Commander off submarines, a Purchasing Manager. So, I speak with intelligence. Not some left wing commie

I know what fuel cost as a commodity manager, where do you get 17 cents. If more like $ 1.45 per gallon. Because the costs are the same but the prices is double plus get a tax break on normal cost of doing business.

I watched McCain on CNN, CPAN, Blomber TV, and was disappointed. We are voting for another rerun of George Bush. Just look around you.
Maybe his Military record is one that show courage, but he like GW Bush, too old and out of touch.

All those people losing their homes, and it not their fault, the health care crisis , our economy in terrible shape. The almost panic on all Street, You see all the yard sales in Tracy, from people seling their home items to make the rent.

well, Mr. Reshakis; I hope you lose your high paying civil service job, and struggle to feed your family, and keep your home. then you will experience what millions of hard hard Americans are going through,

You are typical of GW Bush, followers, if he told you to drive off a cliff, you would ask for directions then do it.

PS. If you live in Tracy, please move, move to Texas where all the right wing nut jobs live.

Al Galaviz

You might get your wish Al, heard they are going to lay off even more people at the Lawrence Livermore National Lab through DOE.

You think he will accept soup at the soup kitchen when his stomach rumbles with intense hunger? Too second class for him?
Nah, he won't, let him starve. Let the rich cronies feed him.

Again with all the bitterness Al. You say you were a Commander of Submarines. Why don't you start acting like one. Name calling, wishing someone to lose their job, and again bashing Tracy. We have a 30 year fixed morgage on our house and we are just fine. We could have rolled the dice for a variable rate, but played it safe.People have to live within their means. You call yourself a Conservative, then you should understand this. Real conservatives are not happy with any of these candidates, but I'll sure go with McCain over Hilliary or Obama. Chill-out Bro'!!!!

Al Says,"I am a conservative republican," but he also says barack and Hillary see the problem?? they can only make it worse, and Al must have never studied any History books. because he doesn't understand what "conservative" is, No conservative would ever "Shill" for those two socialists, no matter how bad McCain is.
Al you are a mixed up Boy. too much time in the Sub and too little time reading.

Why Does Al and isthistrue think I have a civil service job at the Lab?
I work in Manufacturing and have for 30 Years.
I have been laid off,( but only twice and for only a few weeks) and I am not rich. I have no rich friends, and I obey the law and pay my Taxes. One thing I am not, is a Phony Republican who "Shills" for Socialists like Obama the Racist, and Hillary the lying Commie.

Thank you for all your insults, where do we live, Tracy, a no horse, loser of a town. The new show case theater, will go to waste, their is no culture here to support it.

I was right about Enron,
I was right about World Com,
I was right about Pombo
and I am right about. Brain Dead Bush,

For Navy Dad, is that ours or theirs, I am out of uniform so I can say what I please. A lot of military people from all ranks are not happy with G.W. Bush. A adrimal just just got boothed because he spoke his mind.
What a fair system.

The problem with all you brain people in Tracy, if GW Bush said drive off a cliff, you are so stupid you would. Again where do we live Tracy.

Obama and Hillary give us hope, not another rerun with McBush
The problem with you people cannot think past your drive way. Again where do we live Tracy

The only thing positive thing, you all can read, and buy the Tracy Press. Don't like what I have to say get a court order if you can HA HA

Best Regards

Al Galaviz, it is the United States Navy you bitter man. You say you are a conservative republican but Hilliary and Obama give us hope??? Thank God you are out of uniform. Now you told me your story before, you are disabled, you can't find any compassion here from people in Tracy. People including my family have had our share of tragedies in the last couple of years. If you have such a problem with Tracy, why don't you just go live somewhere else and try to live your life, it is a free Country. You reap what you sew my friend, if you throw it out there, you should be man enough to take it.

Its real funny how alot of people will never admit to making a wrong choice, instead they will attack others and think that that justifies there bad choice.I dont care who gets the presidents seat, just as long as its not another idiot like we just had.Why is it that when a republican gets in office WE have to tighten our belts?Look at Reagan,Bush senior, and this clown thats in now. They have done so much damage to this country that its going to take at least a dozen democrat presidents to get things back in order!!OK you dont agree? Then ask yourself --WAS MY LIFE BETTER 7 YRS AGO??YOU BET IT WAS!!Bush gives the biggest tax breaks to the wealthiest while he gets rid of the ability to file bankruptcy less than a year before the housing market crashes. And lets not forget MR.Reagan filling up the wellfare lines with single mothers after he demanded taxing the tips that waitresses received.Sounds like dementia to me.And Ill never forget no new taxes.Whats funny is that alot of Reps.have there lives directly affected by the bad choices these crooks make but they will still not admit to making a WRONG choice at the poles even though it makes there life miserable. Its OK though us democrats will be here when you see the truth and need a shoulder to cry on.

Rick Sanders, yeah, and Democrats like LBJ and Jimmy Carter were so much better???? Like him or not, and it sounds like you didn't, Ronald Reagan was a good President, as historians will no doubt remember. That was a real cheap shot with the "dementia" line. Have you ever had any of your loved ones have dementia, you'd better hope not.As far as welfare, it was Bill Clinton who signed the Welfare reform Act, that was far more in taking away welfare benefits from people and getting them to work, which is a good thing. I will be glad to show you the truth and have my shoulder here should you need a good cry.

As usual your off course and what your saying is that Reagan did no wrong.I dont care if he was the nicest person in the world,he was still a terrible president Because he didnt have his scrooples. His wife had to tell him what to say on live national TV.But after Bush Jr.was loved by the reps.I think I see the Reasoning. If you claim to be a rep and you hold an office then every rep will back you no matter how wrong.OOOOh what a way to live. You can have it.

No, I'm not saying anything of the sort. I'm saying Reagan was a good President. Obviously we will disagree on this, as I think that you are wrong. And thank you, I will have it. I have lived through Democrat Administrations, and Republican Administrations, with good times and not so good with both, but very thankful I live in the U.S.

To Mr. Rick Sanders, thank you, sometime lets meet for coffee.
Sounds like you a very smart person that reads a newspaper and up on world events. You see through the terrible mess of 8 years of Bush Tryanny. A number of readers like (Navy Dad)
are so stupid, and believe all the trash coming out of G.W. Bush

Again for the rest of you that don't like me, Go get a court order to shut me up, HA HA, you can't.

By the way Navy Dad, to be on subs you have to be more than the best. I served 8 years on Attack Boats and Boomers.
So whay Navy were you in ours or theirs.

In unfirom you can't say a word about any thing polictical or face a article 32. But like many many other officers I speak out about the abUSES. tHE PROBLEM WITH YOU, YOU CAN SEE PAST YOUR DRIVE WAY, ITS ONLY YOUR OPINION, AND ITS WRONG. sO AFTER 8 YEARS ARE YOU DOING BETTER, If you say yes, I will doubt it.

In all fairness, good luck to your son, when I was at sea, missed my family and parents dearly. I would never listen to the news back at ho me, because it was aLWAYS depressioing and sad.

To Mr. GungHo, ok stupid which USS Texas, the SSBN or the Old battleship in Galveston Texas, Only the proud old battleship offers tours. Also, your an idiot, I have been on a missle drill, you pray you never have to let one of those Trident Class Missles out, not even God can stop them. To nuke anyone is the last resort. Just one missle can kill 40 million people and trigger a nuclear winter. You talk like it was a game.

Again Mr. Sanders Thank You smilies/smiley.gif smilies/smiley.gif smilies/smiley.gif

I still don't know what the hell you are talking about when you say " our Navy our theirs". You will have to clarify that for me as it does not make sense. And my family has said this to you before, we honor and appreciate your service to our Country, although obviously we differ politically. However, you show a real lack of intelligence when the first thing you do with someone who disagrees with you is namecalling. I am far from " stupid" my friend. I have plenty of friends on the liberal side of things and I would never call them stupid, especially without knowing them. And just so you know, my daughter is a petty officer in the Navy, my stepson was a Marine from right here in Tracy who was killed in combat action in Iraq. My father and Uncle, served in the Navy in WW2. My father's cousin was a Commander on a Nuclear Submarine before his retirement. And my wife was a Military Policeman. And yes, I had my best year at work last year, and besides 2002 being slow, due to the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks, my worst year before that was 1994-5, in the Clinton years. And you use the word trash coming out of the Presidents mouth, my friend, you need to look in the mirror and see what is coming out of your own mouth. Good Luck

Why do so many Liberals seem to have such short memories? The economy was already slowing after the dot com and tech stock bust towards the end of the Clinton presidency. Then 9/11 happens. This country was at the edge of the Abyss and could have easily fallen in. Another attack of that magnitude would have been devastating. Considering how bad things were just after 9/11 we are actually doing pretty well.
For anyone with the IQ of an eggplant here are some simple facts. President Bush is not responsible for the housing collapse just as Clinton was not responsible for the dot com bust. Greed and irresponsible financial decisions are what caused those two things to happen. The economy is cyclical and no president can stop those cycles from happening. I can go on and show more examples of how the president has little control over many of the issues facing us but why should I? Liberals need someone to blame for their own short comings and failures so go ahead and blame everyone except yourselves. What happened to personal responsibility? And by the way, anyone that has to resort to calling people brain dead, stupid, and other insulting words is only showing their ignorance and lack of vocabulary. Al Galaviz calling people those things is actually comical. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Ha,ha
