A letter writer defends a local restaurant-bar against accusations of lax security.
EDITOR,
I read about the downtown restaurant/bar that is allegedly unsafe (His Voice, March 26, “Random gang-related violence mars night at downtown joint”) and found the commentary misinformed.
I have been a patron of this restaurant for more than seven years and have watched it evolve into a very safe, well-policed establishment. Any time young adults mix music, alcohol and the opposite sex, tensions will rise. However, the security staff does its job by monitoring the patrons and intervening before a fight begins.
After the business closes, it should not be held accountable for policing the entire downtown area, should it?
I am sorry for the writer’s son being hurt outside the restaurant, but it could have been avoided by just leaving. Go home when the bar closes.
