A letter writer offers a pithy reply to a woman who complained about people on the train tracks behind her home.

EDITOR,

One question to Susan Baxter (Your Voice, March 26, “Pay attention to track trespassers”): Were the railroad tracks along Byron Road there when you purchased your home?

Plant some cypress trees against your fence, is that allowed?

People who buy homes next to airport, next to rail tracks, and next to heavy traffics can't possibly be blind to all this?

The trees will help give you more privacy?

Darlene,
Yes, the railroad tracks were there when we purchased our home. You missed the point of my letter. I have NO issues with TRAINS being on the tracks behind my home. I rather enjoy the sounds of trains. At one point, train cars were parked there for quite awhile. I didn't mind that because it kept the PEOPLE off the tracks. It's the people walking on the tracks that throw rocks and scrawl graffiti, not the trains. There's a perfectly good sidewalk on the south side of Byron Highway so there really isn't a need for people to be walking on the tracks.

I would be worried about those tumble weeds too. People sleeping in them and when it gets dry they will be crispy.
