Tracy High's sophmores win again at home, Millennium loses a pair and the Tracy and West freshmen dominate opponents.

(S) Tracy 13, Galt 2

Tracy went through its batting order twice in the first inning as Galt’s starting pitcher gave up nine hits and three walks while plunking three batters Friday at Monte Vista Middle School.

Galt was unable to score off Tracy pitcher Jake Finney, who threw only 55 pitches in five innings and gave up three hits.

Alex Flores got two hits for Tracy, including a double and two RBIs, and Finney and Robert Emerson each drove in four. Tracy also got hits from Joseph Martin, Jake Rivera and Robbie Jackman.

The win puts the Bullpups at 13-1.

(F) Tracy 9, Galt 2

Tyler Trew struck out 13 Galt batters and allowed two hits in seven innings to lead his team to a win Friday at Tracy High. The Bullpuppies had contributions from several batters, including Tyler Daily, who hit two doubles, and Andy Levand, who also hit a double. Jacob Wilson had three RBIs for the day. Also getting hits were Antonio D’Onofrio, James Fisher, Aaron Walker and Casey Wichman.

The win puts Tracy at 8-1-1.

Edison 15, Millennium 2

The Vikings put up four runs in the first inning, but the Falcons kept the game close for the next couple of innings during tournament play Friday at McNair High.

Assistant coach Drew Reyes said Millennium had opportunities to score but didn’t get clutch hits. The team also made errors that allowed the Vikings to score big in the fourth and sixth innings.

Reyes said his team anticipated tough competition this week from the Division I teams at the tournament. He expects the Falcons will improve on their 4-9 record once Harvest Christian League play begins April 8.

Franklin 13, Millennium 1

The Franklin Yellowjackets had a big day at the plate Wednesday at McNair High School, especially during an eight-run fourth-inning rally.

“We haven’t faced a team that hit the ball that well all year,” Reyes said. “Franklin just pounded the ball on us.”

The Yellowjackets collected 14 hits to the Falcons’ three, and Reyes said those hits included four doubles and three triples. The only Millennium players to get hits were Jake Vierra, Kellen Cheatle and Jonny Rojas.

(F) Tracy 15, East Union 0

Tyler Trew went 4-for-4 Wednesday at East Union High, including a double in the Bullpuppies’ seven-run first inning and a two-RBI triple in the eight-run third inning. Tyler Daily hit a two-RBI double, and Andy Levand and Jacob Wilson also drove in runs in the first inning. Joshua Wesley drove in two in the third, and Tyler San Filippo and Nick Camper also drove in runs in the third.

Wesley pitched five scoreless innings and allowed only three hits and a walk for East Union.

(F) West 14, Franklin 1

West coach Vince Vargas took some of his backup players off the bench Wednesday after West took an early lead, and they continued to get hits and score for the Wolf Pack.

“They stepped up all of a sudden,” he said. “I was really proud of them.”

The game, part of the St. Mary’s Tournament in Stockton, went only four innings, and West pitchers Eric Glesse and Jeff Rich held Franklin to three hits. West batters got eight hits and took advantage of eight Franklin errors.

Jason Thomassen went 3-for-3, and Steven Black was 2-for-2. Sal Alvarado and Greg Eaglin both hit triples.
