Briefs 

Safe teen driving

The Get Real Behind the Wheel committee and the Altamont Motorsports Park will host an on-track safe teen driving event for kids and their parents from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the raceway, 17001 Midway Road, outside of Tracy.

Teen drivers between 14 and 18 years old and accompanied by an adult will be allowed to use the pit and track areas for driver’s training. Proof of age is required.

Rotary hosts casino night

The Tracy Rotary Club will present Casino Royale, an Evening of Gaming Enjoyment, tonight.

The event, which will feature casino games, high-roller prizes, raffle prizes and food, will run from 5 to 11 p.m. at Platinum on the third floor of The Opera House, Ninth Street and Central Avenue.

Tickets, $35 per person, can be purchased at the door. Proceeds will benefit Tracy Rotary Club’s scholarship fund.

Southside group meets

The Southside Improvement Association will meet from
1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at El Castillo Restaurant, 600 N. Central Ave.

The group is set to discuss the Neighborhood Watch program and search for a solution to other problems there.

Genealogy group workshop

The Tracy Area Genealogical Society will host a workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at its library, 1141 Adam St.

Attendees will learn how to research families.

Banta kindergarten registration

Banta Elementary School will register kids for kindergarten starting Monday.

Applications can be picked up from the school office, 22345 El Rancho Road.

Citywide garage sale

The city is calling all Tracy residents west of Tracy Boulevard to sign up for the annual citywide garage sale, which will be all day April 19.

Women’s film festival

Sponsored locally by Luna Mom’s Club of Tracy, Lunafest — a series of movies by, for, and about women — will be shown starting at 7 p.m. April 5 at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, 715 Central Ave.

A reception is scheduled for 6 p.m., with wine tastings, appetizers and a silent auction.

Jumpathon festival

Bohn Elementary School will host a Jumpathon and Spring Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5 at the school, 350 E. Mt. Diablo Ave.

There will be booths, raffle prizes, a silent auction, food and entertainment. Money raised from the festival will help pay for field trips and classroom supplies, and some will be put into the playground fund.
