West continues its early league tear, while Tracy falls to Lincoln. West High’s tennis team swept the Tokay Tigers, 5-0, on Thursday at Tokay in Tri-City Athletic League play. The win puts West at 3-0 in TCAL and 4-2 overall. West coach Micheal Quintana said his players started off well, but the West players got overconfident and allowed Tokay players to win more of their games in the second sets. "We just didn’t stick with our original game plan … but we adjusted our game plan enough to win." In the singles, West’s Brett Spadoni beat Lawrence Valdez, 6-1, 6-4; Parker Lewis beat Davis Faito, 6-0, 6-4; and Baljit Singh beat Marcus Wells, 6-0, 7-5. In the doubles, West’s Serggio Antonio and Daniel de la Cruz beat Kyle Kemp and Tim Cronin, 6-0, 6-4. David Chen and Jay Modi beat Hasan Ghadialy and Cody Goonan 6-3 in the first set, but lost the second set 6-7 after going to a tie-breaker. The West team won the third tiebreaker set, 10-5.
