The Tracy High baseball team rallied against Pacific Grove, but finally fell in the game's final at-bat. The Tracy High baseball team lost a close game Saturday to the Pacific Grove Breakers. "We were two evenly matched teams," assistant coach Tony Crivello said. "It came down to one big hit at the end." With the game tied 5-5, Tracy threatened to take the lead in the eighth inning, but with the bases loaded couldn’t get the runner in. The Breakers started the bottom of the eighth with a walk, a ground-out and two more walks. A base hit drove in the winning run. The visiting Bulldogs had eight hits for the day, including Brandon Jossey’s second-inning triple to drive in the Bulldogs’ first run. Stevie Ramos was 3-for-4 for the day, and Jacob Valdez was 2-for-4. The Breakers had a 5-2 lead going into the seventh inning, but Bulldogs leadoff batters Ramos and Justin Evans got base hits, and Ryan Scornaienchi got on with a walk to load the bases. B.J. O’Brien, Johnny Espana and Kyle Hassna knocked them in to tie the score. (S) Tracy 6, Pacific Grove 3 Tracy needed some good defensive play to keep the Breakers from moving around the bases during Saturday’s road game in Pacific Grove. Both teams scored early, but Tracy’s bullpen, including Robbie Jackman and Ricky Diaz, kept the Breakers scoreless for the last five innings. Diaz especially shined, giving up no hits and striking out five Pacific Grove batters in three innings. Alex Flores was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Robert Emerson also hit a double and drove one in for the Bullpups. Diaz’s single hit was a triple with one on base, and Dominic Nazario was 2-for-4. The win puts the Tracy sophomores at 11-0.
