Tracy High's Nicole Brown powers her way to a section-qualifying time in the 500-yard freestyle. Tracy High junior Nicole Brown qualified for sectional competition Tuesday with a first-place finish and a time of five minutes, 44.5 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle in competition at Sierra High School in Manteca. The Tracy 400-yard freestyle relay team, made up of Brown, Whitney McCray, Lindsey Sharpe and Alyssa Britt, also recorded a qualifying time of 4:14.08, which was good for a second-place finish against Sierra’s team. The Sierra varsity girls and boys finished with the high point totals for the meet, 111-59 for the girls and 125-46 for the boys. The Tracy junior varsity girls won their meet, 108-39, and swept several categories in which Sierra had no entries. Lindsey Sharpe took first place in the varsity girls 200 individual medley with a time of 2:27.27, and Alyssa Britt took first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:09.06. Joseph Sanchez took first place in the boys 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.39. Among the first-place swimmers on the JV team, Anna Lowell had times of 1:12.17 in the 100 butterfly and 2:27.61 in the 200 freestyle; Daryl Scott had times of 29.90 in the 50 freestyle and 1:17.72 in the 100 backstroke; and Jordan Walling had a time of 2:57.65 in the 200 individual medley.
