The number of undefeated teams in the city of Tracy adult softball leagues declined in the second week of action, which was completed Monday.
Friday Night Men’s Advanced/Intermediate East Bay BMW 16, Grating Pacific 11: East Bay BMW scored nine runs in the top of the first inning and held on to defeat Grating Pacific on March 7. Grating Pacific scored several runs in the team’s last three at-bats, but it was not enough to overcome East Bay’s first-inning lead. Sonic Interiors 15, Mavericks 14: Sonic Interiors scored five runs in the top of the final inning to take a 15-13 lead. The Mavericks mounted a rally in their half of the inning, but stout Sonic defense limited them to one run and secured the win. Tracy Fire 17, Journey Christian 1: Tracy Fire displayed its offensive and defensive power in downing Journey Christian. Tracy Fire scored in every inning to move into second place in the division standings. Rusty’s 24, Grating Pacific 4: Rusty’s put 12 runs on the board in the top of the second inning to break open a close game and pin a loss on Grating Pacific. Friday Night Men’s Novice Southwinds 13, One’s Too Many 11: Southwinds moved atop the division standings with a narrow win over previously undefeated One’s Too Many. Southwinds jumped to a one-run lead after one inning but Too Many stayed within two runs until the top of the fifth when they plated two runs to tie the game 11-11. Southwinds responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and held on for the win. Lil’ Help 15, New Life CC 11: Lil’ Help picked up its first win of the season, knocking off New Life in a close contest. New Life built an early 10-4 lead, but Lil’ Help scored seven runs in the fourth inning to take the lead and the game. Willbanks, Hays & Woods 9, Free Agents 8: WH&W fell behind the Free Agents by a score of 8-0 after five innings. WH&W scored two in the bottom of the fifth, three in the bottom of the sixth and finally four in the bottom of the last inning for the come-from-behind win. Monday Night Coed Intermediate East Bay Construction 16, Team Loco 4: East Bay scored nine runs in the top of the second inning and held on to take a win over Team Loco in Intermediate Coed action on Monday at the Tracy Sports Complex. Bad Apples 24, M.J. Gilbert Construction 3: The Bad Apples put eight runs on the board in the second and seven more in the fourth to take a big win over M.J. Construction. Tracy Mix 18, Pranksters 8: Tracy Mix had to come from behind to beat the Pranksters and remain undefeated in the division. The Pranksters jumped to a 7-3 lead after three innings and clung to an 8-6 lead after four. But at that point their bats went cold and Tracy Mix plated five runs in the top of the fifth and seven more an inning later to pull away late. Monday Night Coed Novice W’s 8, Underdogs 5: The W’s scored a narrow victory over the Underdogs thanks to stingy defense, and by the end of the night the W’s remained the only undefeated team in the division. The teams were tied at five runs each after four innings, but the W’s scored three runs in the team’s final two at bats for the win. Underdogs 10, Chix & Stix 6: The Underdogs downed Chix & Stix thanks to a big eight run first inning. After the evening’s play, the Underdogs were all alone in second place in the division standings. Legends 12, Journey Christian 4: A seven-run first inning was the difference in this match-up of previously winless teams. Journey battled back late in the game but could not overcome the large early lead of the Legends. • Scores submitted by Floyd Lewis, city of Tracy Parks and Recreation Department.
