The West and Tracy boys tennis squads makes easy work of their Tuesday opponents. West 5, Stagg 0 For West High, Tuesday’s win on the road against Stagg was the Wolf Pack’s first game in the Tri-City Athletic League season. It put the Pack at 2-2 overall, and coach Micheal Quintana said it was an encouraging start to the season. He added that even the two preseason losses against Lincoln and Lodi gave the West team a measure of how well they would do in league play. "For our preseason matches, we tried to get stiffer competition than we had last year," Quintana said. West swept the singles matches as Kevin Canoy beat Stagg’s Peara Thach, 6-1, 6-1; Baljit Singh beat Morgan Craul, 6-0, 6-1; and Parker Lewis beat Bailey Aiy, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, West swept again as Serggio Antonio and Daniel de la Cruz beat Darren Goodpasture and Kevin Sanders, 6-1, 6-1, and Jay Modi and Jerome Oribello beat Ivan Parilla and Tim Williams, 6-0, 6-0. Tracy 4, Chavez 1 Tracy’s win on the road against Chavez on Tuesday put the Bulldogs at 3-0 in the San Joaquin Athletic League, 3-1 overall. Tracy coach Dean Reese said the Titans have had a young team the past few years, and this year, their third in league play, they have put up some tough competition. "They’ve been getting stronger and stronger each year. We weren’t taking anything for granted," Reese said. In the singles matches, Tracy’s Quinn O’Brien beat Nhia Moua, 6-2, 6-1; Chavez’s Phillip Saly beat Tracy’s Miguel Gonzalez, 6-3, 6-4; and Tracy’s Chris Pope beat Nathan Cloud, 6-3, 6-3. Tracy won both doubles matches as Niraj Punjya and Mitchell Adams beat Matt Saly and Luiz Perez, 6-3, 6-3, and Sanjit Gill and Vatsal Jhalani beat Ryan Espejo and Justin Alicaba, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.
