Altamont Motorsports Park is getting ready for a night of racing, "American Graffiti" tribute style. Driver registration has begun for the Tribute to American Graffiti event at Altamont Motorsports Park on April 5 and 6. The event will feature racing with NASCAR Western and Westcar late models, modifieds, ALSC cars and West Coast Enduro cars. More than $40,000 in prize money will be awarded, including $3,000 to the Westcar late model winner, $2,000 to the modified and Enduro winners and $1,000 to the ALSC winner. All drivers will compete in 20-lap heats on that Saturday for positions in Sunday’s races. All drivers must be members of NASCAR, Westcar or Altamont Motorsports Park. The weekend will also feature live music and auto racing champions, including Ryan Philpott of Tracy, plus James Dulla, Tony Noceti, Ryan Mock, Ron Strmiska Jr., Harry Belletto, 1966 Stockton Hardtop Champ Tony Quirello, 2007 NASCAR West Series champ Mike David and all-time Stockton 99 Speedway track record-holder Johnny Brazil will be on hand to sign autographs.
