America’s biggest racists Print E-mail
Written by Guillermo Rodriguez / For the Tracy Press /

A letter-writer suggests a different course of action for two men he terms the "racial police."

EDITOR,

Who do I think is the biggest racist in America today? Two names come to mind: Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

If there’s a racial injustice to right, they are on the scene to save the day. But who is doing the saving, and who is doing the self-promoting? They both have a long history of using racial attacks to further their cause.

They talk about how black women get disrespected and not treated equally. If they truly cared about getting degrading words against women pulled off the airwaves, they should shift their focus to the rap music industry. The current rap songs at the top of the charts are littered with racial and gender slurs. These “songs” are played over and over and over again. They sink into the minds of young listeners every day.

What kind of culture do Sharpton and Jackson think it promotes? Treating women fairly? Treating women as equals? No, and yet Jackson and Sharpton will spend countless hours attacking a white man and ignore an entire industry that is doing so much damage to young blacks.

The media need to stop turning to the likes of Sharpton and Jackson as if they were the racial police. Stop giving them a platform, and maybe they will just go away. Their words have no meaning, and their credibility is less than zero.

— Guillermo Rodriguez, Tracy

Guillermo, You are right on the money. Those two are masters at bloviating about race issues. Anytime you hear about some non black person making just one stupid racial slur or letting one inappropriate word slip out, you know one of those two will be there to lambast that person to no end. However, you never hear a peep out of them when it's the other way around.

Read Pat Buchannon's article on the Jenna six Lie, it was a total Faked race story, not a shread of truth. Sharpton is one of the Worst racists in America, He was mikling the Faked Tawana Brawly Fraud and even lst a law suit for slander.
also don't forget the racist New Black Panther Party who showed up yelling for the heads of the Falsly charged
lacross college students.where the black stripper lied about being raped. and the DA even wnet to jail for helping
push the Racist crime ( the new black panthers never have appologised for their racist scam) and the lying Stripper has never been charged for ruining the lives of innocent people.
Why do Blacks always get a free pass when they are caught pulling these rotten crimes? answer, gutless Leftists once again...

I tip my hat to you, Señor Rodriquez. This country has seen enough of Those People, their misogyny, their rap music, their pit bulls, and their divisive racism. They need to take that show on the road back to Africa or Mexico, or wherever it came from and where it belongs, before it corrupts the rest of us.

"Blacks always get a free pass when they are caught pulling these rotten crimes."

Hear, hear. And some people would accuse the San Joaquin Republican party of being a bunch of racist Crackers. Good job, setting the record straight, Reshakis. The problem with our criminal justice system is that it is too easy on Negroes. You heard it here first, folks. With support from people like Reshakis, how on earth did Pombo lose?

Wow You people are going way out of the subject. No were did I read that blacks were lazy or that they need to go back anywhere I'm pretty sure the article is about just two men in specific Not the entire race.... Now having said that I completely agree with this article Mr. Rodriguez is absolutely correct. These two men should not be getting rich off of racism. They use it to there advantage and I for one think this isn't rite. I hope people that read this understand what this man is writing and stop changing the subject.

They need to remove the log from their own eyes before they complain of speck in another man's eye!

Statement issued by Rev. Al Sharpton
May 13, 2005

Dear Concerned Citizens,

Music has been a voice of liberation for Black people since the moment we stepped foot on American soil. From slave spirituals to blues, jazz, and R&B, songs has been a constant source of expression for what is means to be Black in America through a history of exploitation and subjugation. In recent years, hip hop has become the most prominent, dominant voice of Black America, with over $1 billion in annual sales. But the rap of today is not the rap of yesteryear. The self-esteem of our African-American boys and girls is being siphoned off by lyrics that bleed to feed insatiable corporate greed; by sisters who move and shake for a money machine that takes and takes. Our children need visions of Black men who are powerful without firepower. Our children need visions of Black women who act for themselves instead of performing for others. We have a generation that is growing but not growing up.

The right to freely express ideas is a fundamental value in our nation, but corporate rap that uses violence to hype record sales is polluting young American minds with the idea that this is the key to success. Despite a wide variety of Black rap available, corporate executives buy only one slice of the pie, shamelessly promoting the stereotype that Black men are all thugs and criminals. Progressive Black rappers are locked out by corporations. Two-thirds of rap consumers are young White people -- mostly male -- a generation that has learned through rap images to identify Black male culture with a culture of violence. This generation has also learned through rap music and videos that to be a “real man” means using, abusing, and discarding women as insignificant sex objects.

Black boys and girls are not immune to these images either. They think gangsta rap is exciting, and we have got to say it is not exciting. It is not fresh. It is not new. Gangsta rap represents the same old chains that we have been trying to break free from for the past 400 years. Damaging stereotypes diminish the self-esteem of young people all over America. Rap is one of many outlets that reflect narrow racist and misogynist stereotypes, and its power increases with every #1 single. More of us should speak out and talk about how it is contributing to the breakdown of society, giving our kids the wrong image of who they are and who they can be.

Rap music, the single most popular voice of Black American in the United States, has been hijacked by a corporate America that is blinded by dollar signs. These executives don’t care if the integrity of rap is compromised, if they make it easy for Black culture to be dismissed by the majority, and if they promote verbal and physical assault against women. These companies don’t care, so we are forced to reclaim rap music through consumer pressure. I call upon Americans of all races and all creeds to put their money where their hearts and minds are by refusing to financially support racism. Universal Music Group is the industry leader in peddling racist and misogynistic Black stereotypes through rap music. They are now faced with a golden opportunity to become the industry leader in something else: doing the right thing. In this great democratic nation, we have to stamp out inequality when it rears its ugly head through whatever means possible. I call upon you to boycott all Universal Music Group artists until the company signs an agreement to promote more diverse images of Black Americans in rap music. Boycott all Universal artists, not just rap artists, to let music companies know that this is not a Black issue. This is not a White issue. This is an issue of justice, and we need to step up and take our music forward.

Sincerely,

Reverend Al Sharpton

in other words, please find a different reason for not liking jesse jackson or al sharpton. it will not be hard

Those two make money off all African-Americans and you guys accept that? Do they pay your bills? Racism pays and that why they drive a Luxury car and have a big house. Think about it. Jesse Jackson hates Jewish people and Al used to be a Pimp and a drug dealer. Now Al is the biggest Hippocreat and will never be respected. They make the blacks look bad.

All i have to say, is this gentleman hit it right on the nose. Not only are these two like they are, but numerious others are the same.

The most important thing is that we live in america and we have choices that almost no other countrys have.

we have the choice to vote, speak, and listen. and we have the choice to choose.

I am a parent and its my job to monitor my children. I remember the days when i did something wrong, and my dad wacked me upside my head, and now im a successful human to society. My kids are all grown up, and in my home i monitered my kids as much as i could.

its up to us parents to take back whats ours, and thats our kiddos, (n dont go wackin them upside the head, cuz u know we be going to the pokie).

We have our representives who represent our states, cities, etc. but we need to represent our kids

They need to look up because i dont want my kid to look up to a rapper, or a country singer, or a jazz musician, or a astronaut.

I, the parent should be who they want to be..but i have to be the best that i can be for my kids. Parents, we got the ball in our hands, we made these kids..so lets do our best to guide them...

You always here this kind of stuff all the time. But really, they bring it on themselves. I will admit, not all blacks are ghetto, and they get bashed for actually acting civil. As most of you know the term "White Washed" has been used several times. A lot of kids use it in high school if a certain black student doesn't get "Hyphy" or "Crunk" whatever the heck they call it. Just the other day I was in Taco Bell on Grantline and there was a bunch of black teenagers sitting across the room. The whole time they were there it was nothing but a bunch of yelling, and "Nigga this, Nigga that" sentences. Now after that, you wonder why people think the way they do? You see them driving around in these car with the ugliest rims that I've ever seen, blasting music, and not obeying the driving laws AT ALL. It gets frusterating after awhile. I'll admit that whenever I see one getting pulled over or getting searched I get a little satisfaction relief. If you want to be treated with respect, then act with respect. If you're mad because your race gets trash talked a lot, then do something about it. SHOW people that not everyone is the same. Another thing, black people do get a lot of disrespect but so do the other races in this country, including white and mexicans, etc. White people get trash talked because of stuff that happened in the past with slavery, Mexican people get trashed on if they dont "Act Mexican, and act White" Let me ask, how do you act like a certain race? I know people are going to disagree with me, and I know people are going to think that I'm a racist. But that doesn't matter to me. It's life, just take a look around. You can't sit there and say that you have never had a racist though, or prejudice thought, whatever it is go through your head.
