• Big white blossoms: Have you noticed all the almond blossoms in the past few weeks? Growers report that San Joaquin County’s $143 million almond industry is off to a good start this year — with warm weather and plenty of honeybees.

• Cold splash of water: No one in California will see signs of a housing market “bottom” until the pace of rising foreclosure activity begins to slow. So said Mortgage Bankers Association chief economist Doug Duncan this week.
