Beck-less Pack still find mark at Beyer.

The West High basketball team lost its main outside scoring threat, senior shooting guard Kris Beck, but still managed to outclass Beyer, 62-49, in Modesto on Friday night.

Despite missing Beck, the Wolf Pack (5-2 preseason) wore down the Patriots (2-5) with their “depth,” West coach Steve Thornton said.

“We had a good effort from our bench tonight,” he said. “It was our best effort, at least in the second half.”

Junior forward Andre Bolton came off the bench to score 14 points — including two 3-pointers — and Frank Bonifacio scored all eight of his points in the fourth quarter.

Junior Terrance Jones continued a strong start to the season with a game-high 19 points, and five other players had at least three points for West.

West trailed by four at the half but held Beyer to 21 total second-half points, and only four in the fourth quarter.

Both West and Beyer will play Wednesday in the Tracy Winter Holiday Classic Tournament.The Wolf Pack will play Franklin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in The Den.

(S) West 62, Johansen 41

Third place was better than none in the Johansen Tournament for West (5-4 preseason), which used a 21-point third quarter to pull away from the hosts.

Eric Green led the way with 17 points and 12 boards. Patrick Phillips added 10 for West, which will visit Beyer on Wednesday.

(S) Tracy 54, St. Mary’s 47
(S) Folsom 56, Tracy 40

The Bullpups (3-5 preseason) are consolation runners-up in the Edison Tournament.
Mychael James scored 18 against St. Mary’s on Friday, and Daryl Dancy added 15. Jake Finney had 11.

 Kevin Speer scored 12 points against Folsom, and Dancy added 10. James scored 10.

Fourth place was the achievement Saturday in the St. Mary’s Tournament for the Bullpuppies (2-3), who saw Casey Wichman score 22 points over two games.

Hugo Levy added 14.

Tracy shot 9-for-24 from the line against the hosts, while the Rams hit seven of their eight foul shots. Tracy plays Livermore on Monday.

Jarrard Miles scored 22 points and William Kaigler added 2 for the Wolf Pack.

Girls basketball

West 52, Chavez 30

The Wolf Pack’s strong start to the season continued Friday in Stockton, as West (8-1 preseason) led the host Titans (1-10) by 19 after a quarter and 37-12 at the halftime whistle.
West has won five straight games.

Whitney Howard scored 15 points and added 13 rebounds and six assists for her fifth double-double in nine games. Devin Brown scored 10 points and added six assists and four steals. Eliza Bowles scored 12 points.

Angelina Drummer had six points, five steals and three assists. West will play Monterey Trail of Elk Grove on Monday night.

Bullard-Fresno 45, Tracy 40
Tracy 48, San Luis Obispo 46

The Bulldogs played in the consolation championship of the Morro Bay/San Luis Obispo Tournament on Saturday (no scores available) after Ashley Freitas hit Marlene MacMillan with a last-second pass, and MacMillan sank the shot to beat the hosts on Friday.

MacMillan scored 17 points against Bullard on Thursday, and Nicole Parks Powell added 11.
MacMillan had 11 on Friday against SLO, and Cezzalene Arabia added seven. Megan Machado scored six, and Parks-Powell had five.

(F) Modesto Christian 30, Tracy 29

The Tracy freshmen (4-4) seized fourth place in the Modesto Christian Tournament on Saturday.
Catherine Gibson scored 11 points and All-Tournament selection Taylor Bobbitt added six against Manteca on Friday.

Gibson scored nine while Bobbitt added four on Saturday against the hosts. Briana Aldridge added five, and Bridget Emery scored four.

Ashley Serpa hit a 3-pointer.
