Car seat technicians check car seats for local moms.

It was part of a safety inspection for Stroller Strides and Luna Moms Club members this morning at the Tracy Sports Complex. Thirty-five cars seats were inspected by Haskell, Hector Davila of the Californina Highway Patrol and Kathy Schneider of the American Automobile Association.

The fire department, through the Child Automotive Restraint Education and Safety program, provides free car seat inspections by appointment at 831-4000, ext. 1703.

According to the Tracy Fire Department, four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly. Also, children are often in the wrong car seat for their size or are put in recalled or damaged seats or seats not properly secured to the vehicle.
