Thanks to Isaiah Floyd, the Tracy Buccaneers Rookies run away with a Super Bowl victory. A year after many of its members won a title as starts, the Tracy Buccaneers rookies youth football team won a title of its own Saturday at Modesto Christian High. Three touchdowns — two on offense, one on defense — from running back/defensive back Isaiah Floyd pushed Tracy to a 19-0 halftime lead in the NYFL state title game between the two section champions. Floyd ran for 70 yards and scored on 1-yard touchdown runs in both quarters. And with the Patriots holding the ball near midfield with seven seconds left in the half, Floyd picked off a Brentwood pass and returned in 58 yards for a 19-0 lead. He finished with two interceptions. Coach Dennis Alegre put in the substitutes in the second half, as Brentwood found the end zone twice in the fourth quarter. Tavon Johnson led the way on defense with 11 tackles, and Hussani Moses added 10. Brandon Russell had six stops, and Justin Mills had six and also recovered a fumble. Myles Cunningham recovered not one but two fumbles and also had six stops. The Buccaneers finished the season 11-3 in National Youth Football League play.
The Bucs’ cheerleading teams also took home state titles Saturday.
