The Wolf Pack take a tournament title with a last-second catch-and-shoot.

The West High girls sophomore basketball team took home the Blue and Gold Tournament title on Saturday with a thrilling last-second finish.

The Flames led from the opening bucket until 27 seconds left in the game, when tournament MVP Lauren Fass grabbed a rebound and drained a shot to give West a one-point advantage.

Ashleigh Paul added a free throw with three seconds left to give the final breathing room, 34-32.

West at times trailed by seven, but scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback. Jackey Jallorina scored seven points, and Whitney Dellafosse added six, all in the final frame.

"The girls showed great character coming back," West coach Joe Hernandez said. "They … (stayed) calm and focused, and were able to turn it up in the fourth quarter to lead us to the championship."

Fass put in five and Paul added four. Dellafosse added nine rebounds, and Brianna Smith hauled in six.

The Wolf Pack defeated Modesto 38-32 on Friday to make the championship game. The Wolf Pack led 25-9 at the half and 35-19 entering the fourth before the Panthers made a late surge.

Jallorina led the way with 10 points and added six rebounds. Liu Dellafosse scored seven points, and Tina Lorico chipped in with five.

Paul had eight rebounds, and Charae McConnell added seven.

Whitney Dellafosse, Jallorina and Brianna Smith were named to the all-tournament team.
