Local gymnasts compete in state meet. The Classic Gymnastics’ Level 5 gymnasts finished their fall competitive season Nov. 17 and 18 at the Level 5 State Championships in Lemoore. Shaylyn Garay scored a season-high on the vault with an 8.4 and took sixth place on the bars with a score of 9.0. She also scored an 8.375 on the balance beam and an 8.5 on the floor for an all-around score of 34.275. Eleven-year-old California Gymnastics Academy competitor Elizabeth Higa scored an 8.3 on the vault, an 8.85 on the bars, an 8.525 on the balance beam and an 8.75 on the floor for an all-around score of 34.425. Classic Gymnastics’ Eishlee Jasa scored an 8.025 on the vault, a season-high of 8.675 on the bars to take seventh place in that event, an 8.35 on the balance beam and an 8.675 on the floor for an all-around score of 33.725. Classic Gymnastics began the season with three gymnasts at level 5, and two of the three qualified for the state championships. Level 4 gymnasts will participate in state championship competition Dec. 1 and 2.
