Three Tracy teams continue through the playoffs.
Another year, another season of local youth football, another Tracy team vying for a youth title. Or make that three, actually. While some other teams bask in the Las Vegas sun and crack helmets on Las Vegas fields in the annual Las Vegas national championships, three Tracy teams are still alive in their respective league playoffs. The Tracy Buccaneers rookies squad, featuring some members of last year’s starts Super Bowl champions, will vie for a title Saturday at Johansen High in Modesto. No information or statistics from their previous games were available; neither was the identity of their opponents. Reporters did ascertain that the game will be played at 3 p.m. The Tracy Raiders and Tracy Cougars both earned South Conference titles last weekend — at each other’s expense. The JV Raiders edged the Cougars, and the novice Cougars won out over the novice Raiders. Both titleholders will play in Super Bowls on Dec. 1.
