Fastpitch softball clinic

The All-American Sports Academy will host two sessions of an advanced left-handed slapping and bunting softball workshop Saturday at the academy, 300 West Larch Road. Session 1, for players ages 9 to 13, is from 9 a.m. to noon, and Session 2, for players ages 14 to 18, is from
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Payment and registration are required by today.

West High swim meeting

Anyone interested in swimming with the team in 2008 should attend a meeting at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at coach Pinkie Phillips’ house, 255 E. Eaton Ave. Paperwork will be handed out and pertinent issues will be mulled.

California Odyssey 18-and-under softball

The softball organization will host tryouts from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 8 at Sierra High in Manteca. All positions are open.

Lady Wolfpack softball

The Bay Area-based softball organization will host tryouts for 12-and-under through 18-and-under Gold teams from 9:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 2 at Larry Stanley Field, 27182 Patrick Ave., in Hayward.

Soccer players needed

The Tracy United Competitive Soccer Club Gladiators, a Class 1 under-13 boys team, is looking for serious and committed soccer players, ages 11 to 13, to join the team. The team plays year-round and practices from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Tracy Sports Complex.

Stockton Trojans semipro football tryouts

The semiprofessional football team, the 2007 Division champions in the Northern California Amateur Football Federation’s North Division, will host tryouts at the University of the Pacific’s Gardemeyer Field at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 9.

Tracy USA wrestling club signups

The wrestling organization will host signups at 7 p.m. Nov. 27 and 29 in the Tracy High boys subgym. The club is open to boys and girls from kindergarten through eighth grade, ages 5 to 14.

Cost is $200 and includes USA wrestling card, Adidas singlet, wrestling club shirt and shorts.

Practices, which begin Dec. 3, are at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for ages 5 through 8 and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for ages 9 through 14. The team’s head coach is 1988 and 1992 U.S. Olympic team alternate Larry Nicholson.

Tracy Little League registration

Sign-ups for Tracy Little League are being taken online at www.tracylittleleague.org. The league will host walk-in registration from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 15 at the Jefferson School cafeteria, 7500 W. Linne Road.

Tracy Babe Ruth registration

Open registration for the 2008 Tracy Babe Ruth season will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1;
7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 5; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 15. All registrations are at the Villalovoz School. There is a coed league for players ages 4 through 15. Birthday cutoff date is May 1, 1993.
All new players must bring a birth certificate.

Toys for Tots basketball tournament

The Tracy Storm girls seventh- and eighth-grade AAU basketball team will host its annual Toys for Tracy Tots basketball tournament Dec. 8 and 9. School, CYO or AAU teams are welcome to participate. Proceeds go toward the purchase of gifts for the McHenry House Family Shelter.

California Grapettes softball tryouts

The California Grapettes 18-and-under showcase team is looking for players for the 2008 summer showcase season. The Grapettes is an American Softball Association nationally qualified team that plays an aggressive tournament schedule. Pitchers and catchers can try out at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 1, and all other positions try out at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 1 at Arnaiz Sports Complex in Stockton.

California Youth Basketball League

The league is a nonprofit youth organization with chapters in Natomas, Elk Grove, El Dorado Hills and San Juan. The league is open to teams with boys and girls ages 4 to 18. Games begin Jan. 12 and run until March 1. Practices are on weeknights with games on weekends. Individual and team registrations are welcome. Registration deadline is Dec. 1.

Youth basketball league signups

Tracy’s Parks and Community Services Department is taking registrations for its youth basketball league through Dec. 15. The program is available for girls and boys in third through eighth grades. The season runs from Jan. 6 to March 29. Practices are during the week and games are on Saturdays. A skill assessment will be Dec. 15 at Tracy High School. Please call for times.

Volunteer basketball coaches are needed for the city of Tracy’s youth recreational league. A clinic for the volunteers will be Dec. 18, with instruction from the local high school coaches.

Baseball conditioning

K Baseball Academy, at 3402 Mars Court, Ste. 102, will host winter baseball and softball classes at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and at
7:20 p.m. Thursdays for players ages 11 to 18. Cost is $18 per class, and no commitment is required. The academy is also forming travel baseball teams for players 9-and-under, 10-and-under and 14-and-under.
