People don't need to be going there and touching your car. Good ideas tho. And I really like the licensing idea.

We get enough in the mail. I know this is off subject, but the people that hang the adds on your door knobs, I caught this one solicitor crossing over my lawn because I happen to pull up at the right time. I asked them not to walk across my lawn anymore please. I should have told them to stop dropping those off. I have a no soliciting sign of which she bypassed because she was lazy and didn't go up my side walk.

It seems hitting parking lots is a newer crime wave. Easy to see if anyone is coming.

There are signs for grocery stores stating something like for shoppers of their store only, will be towed away and a city code. - maybenotdumBcommenT

I agree with you Dave. I wonder if the city can put up "NO SOLICITING/PRIVATE PROPERTY, PARKING FOR COMMUTERS ONLY" signs throughout the parking lot. If flyers are placed on vehicles maybe there would be a way then for the city to seek punitive measures to the company(ies) listed on the flyers. Just a thought, don't know how this would be enforced. - fortheunderdog

On the protection part. Well I suppose if we had paid parking lots with attendants that would solve the problem, but I really doubt it.

From what I have observed over the years the problem, and there is a problem, isn't as bad as it use to be an the police do patrol these lots frequently because I personally have seen them patroling them. But you don't have to believe me if you don't want to. ;)

On the auto art left on our windshields I have to agree.

This is what I have started to do and hope all of you do the same.

Many of these things have an address on them and also have a postage meter type of stamp imprinted on the thing as they were originally to be bulk mailed.

So, circle the address and drop it into the nearest post box. That way it gets sent to their address and they can throw the trash away instead of having it litter our ground.

Attention City Counsel. Here is something you can do for the city that is easy and will have a quick and dramatic improvement on the way our city looks, with trash blowing all around.

Simply pass an ordinance requireing all hand bills that are passed out to be handed out by people that have a license to do so.

Make it a finable offense for them to place these things under windshilelds in city owned or school owned parking lots. Allow commercial businesses to also require these people have permission to do the same thing in their parking lots.

Be proactive and don't ignore the situation or the trash will still be blowing all over town. A legitimate business won't have a problem with a nominal fee so they can have this stuff suck under people's windshields and if they do TOUGH. We don't want that type of business person doing business in Tracy anyway because it just makes all of us look bad in the eyes of everyone else who doesn't live here.
