I noticed again this weekend (May 3-4) that people were stopping (illegally), running to put up signs on the light poles and traffic signal poles. Some of these signs block your view of cross-traffic. Some of the signs have been there for weeks but still the city neglects to take them down. Heaven forbid you get into an accident because you cannot see around those signs but you can always sue the city for not having taken them down. If the signs are taken down now, you can be sure that a city worker read this and noticed the words "sue the city". - notnice

notnice, the only problem with your suggestions, altho they sound like good ones, is there is not enough manpower to have code enforcement tear them down and site them, but...

I saw a parks guy mowing the lawn and there was an old sign right on the city right-away on a stop sign about 15 feet from him. It occurred to me he could have taken down that sign, even if it was only one sign. That particular corner is one of the sign capitals of Tracy.

Thanks amy for your support and comment. - maybenotdumBcommenT

Leaving signs up causing messy viewing for public to look at is like providing a peek into the person's personal habits? Messy homes? Addresses are on the long expired yard sale signs and we will have known who the messy ones are and where they live!

I agree with notnice and maybenotadumbcomment! - amy

The very reason I started this forum,(notice the date):

Ugly Advertising Signs & Abandon Grocery Carts - 2008/02/11 09:50

I am sick and tired of seeing all the A-Frame signs uglying up the greenery around town, and along the sidewalks, pink and green Heritage Furniture signs up and down all the main roads. If it isn't Heritage its another furniture store. Some of those A-Frame sign are 3 and 4 feet high. Come on now! What makes those businesses think they are more special to get free advertising? It is against city ordinances to have those signs there and it makes Tracy look trashy.

Talk about ugly, what about the abandon grocery carts. Who's responsible for keeping them off the sidewalks and streets when people steal them to take their food home in. I saw three purple ones today.

One more thing. Those of you that start having your garage sales and put 15 or 20 signs all over the place, I hope you have the decency to get them off all the poles that you put them on. Which is illegal too by the way. - maybenotdumBcommenT

Hey, most have addresses on them. Why not tear them down and throw them back on their front lawns? Better yet, since it's a city violation to post on city property why doesn't the city tear them down and go to the addresses on the signs and issue citations? Great revenue. LOL - notnice
