Here's an article about catalytic converter theft. I was unaware about the use of gold, though. Sorry about that. Just keeping people informed, that's what it's all about. - Jerry

A note about catalytic converters. There are certain metals that are very valuable in small amounts that are used in the manufacture of those converters (no kidding, nothing like gold or anything like that, so don't get excited). Crooks like to saw off the converters and dismantle them so that they could access the metals. They take the metals to a recycling facility and voila!----quick drug money. - Jerry

5:01 a.m.: A man reported someone stole a catalytic converter off his truck on the 1400 block of Autumn Lane. The man said there was a handprint on the side of the truck that could possibly be lifted for fingerprint analysis.

*That's the second report of this in as many days, why are people stealing catalytic converters? - ConcernedParents
