The principal of My Highschool would never see a Girl student unless His office door was open and his Female Secratary was standing there. also Ronald Reagan did the same, the Catholic Church should adopt a similar set of safeguards to show that the leadership cares about it's Flock more than protecting the peadophiles. - Steve Reshakis

As usual the point is completly missed. If you have people with the devient sexual lifestyle of abstinence, then your going to have nothing but problems. The twisted sick opinion of not having sex in order to be more god like has got to be the idea of some sick egotistical control freak.IF the church wants to be trusted with children ,then let the preists get married .Then they can get a real mouthfull on how to raise a family and be qualified to give real advice. - rick sanders

I am so relieved to hear that Father Kelly has been cleared.

Much like you Jon, I knew Father Kelly was innocent, just knew it. I attended St. Bernard's school, and served many services as an alter server with Father Kelly. At St. Bernards we called him 'Father Chuckles', for the obvious reason that he always had the best jokes.

And you wouldn't believe it, but he even remembered the birthdays of those at St. Bernards. - Nick D

Stigmas have been attached, will take a long time to regain public trust of the Catholic Church. The Church is not alone in the exploitation of their faith, many other churches of different denominations are just as guilty, too. Just have not come out in the open, yet. All have sinned, but truth is a must.

Happy Easter, Keep your own religion alive, keeps your relationship with Jesus and God constant. - isthistrue?

Not so quick. The only investigation that said Father kelly was cleared of charges was done by the church. The investigation by authorities will proceed. A number of credible people have come forward with first-hand knowledge and experience of Kelly's past abuse history. The church has always and unfortunately is continuing to protect its priests and devastating the catholic religion in its wake. There have been so many cases of abuse and coverup; people should not rush to protect the priest and condemn the victim because in most cases the charges have been true. That is how this evil the church has condoned has flourished as long as it has. - phillip ingle

It is too bad that the "bad apples" tarnished the image of the clery for the rest of the good guys.

Glad he was cleared! - amy

My wife is Catholic and Father Kelly baptized our son. I'm glad to see him vindicated as much as he can be. This will not end for a long time. It is caused by the culpability of clergy who either committed these crimes and those who hid it as the editorial mentioned and a group of zealots who look at this as an opportunity to bankrupt the church. there are always the opportunists. - scott hurban
