Actually, Mr. Hardesty has been very active within the Tracy community (for many years) and I honestly can't see anyone -who could replace his dedication and considerable resources.
Go ahead and take "your" chaep shots (we all do).
Once I commented to Dave: (Basically about a paragraph)...
And he responded with 4 Pages of factual dialog.
I mean 4 PAGES.
I MEAN 4 FLIPP'IN PAGES.

Oh Wow, mr bananas has told me that Tom B says, "Hardesty is a liar." I am so worried, what shall I do? Oh worry worry worry.
Why that is as rich as, "It's the truth, I swear. I heard it from a friend who heard it from his sisters friend."
And then it claims it has the article and fliers. I am besides myself with fear.
First, last time I knew Tom B is an adult and can speak for himself, instead speaking through a non-entity. Now if he wants to make that statement in public I might pay attention.
Tom and I have already been around the block on this issue and, after getting the straight story from Mendelson, it all got straightned out. Apparently it didn't know that.
Second, if it has the article and flyers it should post them so that everyone can see where I lied.
it and I know there is no article or flyers where I have lied about anything and if there are I would like to see them.
If I lied, intentionally or mistakenly, I will publically apologize, which is a whole lot more than I can say for some people.
Anyone who follows these comments for any length of time can see the game being played and who is doing the lying.

I for one would like mr bananas to prove it, but we all know it won't because it can't. In fact I dare it to prove it by providing the facts to everyone.
BTW, the reason I am now using the term it when talking about the non-entity mr bananas, is because no one, save the Press, knows who this person is and they ain't talkin. It could be female and it could be male.
Time for a new name mr bananas, how about cousin it? - Dave Hardesty

Dave Hardesty has it wrong. Tom B said he answered all the questions that were asked of him because he was a candidate. It had nothing to with Hardesty running for anything. And, he did not like a flunkie like Hardesty questioning his back ground.
These are Tom's quotes everyone. Hardesty is a liar. Tom said he opposed the war not the troops. He had a battle with Greg Aghazarian and Carl Fogliani over their comments about the reservists in 2003 in the Modesto Bee. Their comments were that the National Guard had fantasies about wearing uniforms and they called them Captain Crunch military.
Tom said on record that he was mad as hell at Aghazarian for saying those things about our military. Now Hardesty has twisted those statements, attacking Tom. I saw the article and the flyers Dave.

m.b.

Close but it was never a radar site. It's a site from which satellites are tested to ensure they meet their on-orbit specifications so the government can award payment to the contractors who built them.

But you are very correct in that I was out there too long, which is why I now work out of the main plant in Sunnyvale.

That way the government is assured the money that we pay in taxes is properly spent, instead of wasting it on something a satellite is incapable of doing because the contractor did not meet all of the specifications desired by the government. - Dave Hardesty

It doesn't matter that he uses his real name, I don't because of people I have to protect. Ubbo, you are saying we are all cowards. We all have good and bad qualities in us. I can't believe Hardesty went on and on like that. It is just weird. - maybenotdumBcommenT

I met and know Mr Hardesty. One of the nicest people I have met. As many of you cast judgement upon him, remember this: He is one of the few people who uses his real name to comment here (not a coward obviously) and he is one of the few (if any)City Parks Commissioners who responds or replys to the comments posted in the Tracy Press. He takes the intiative to reply, that ought to tell you something. - Ubbo Coty

I can't believe I read the whole darn thing. I wish I was a speed reader. I'm sure whatever gets upgraded will be out of date in 5 or 6 years. Look to the future. We may get a good 10 years worth of TV equipment and I hope it is in HDTV for goodness sakes. I have one complaint about the programming now and that is not being able to watch our own broadcasts anytime and well another complaint, actually finding out when and what is on, at what time, etc.

Apparently my comment is to short. and won't add. Did you send a precedence here Dave H. Shoot, what else do I talk about, I have nothing else to say. OK, I'll try again to add.

Braintrust? What on earth are you talking about? :-\

No sir, free speech is anything but free. It was all paid for by the blood and lives shed so that we could have free speech.

Yes, I may be a pain in the rear to some but there are others who feel differently. If you don't like what I write then please don't get worked up about it, just simply don't read it.

I am at a complete loss with respect to playfield problems you refered to. If you care to elaborate I might respond.

I'm not all that hard to find if your friends are looking for me. But I am now wondering if your friends have violence on their minds. I hope not as I have had enough violence in my life to last for several lifetimes.

Hopefully we will meet one day and you may come away with a different opinion of me.

Regardless, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - Dave Hardesty

My colleagues at work got quite a chuckle. I had been asking them about these local issues, being a new kid in town. They gave some pretty scathing analysis of the situation. Some of their descriptions were pretty broad, but they all ran similarly.

Ives is in trouble. He is widely disliked. The councilwomen are seen as snooty and pushy. That Tucker woman is cursed savagely by some, disliked by everyone, even those who knew nothing else. The new guy, the cop, is still on his honeymoon, it seems. Even this deal with the pictures hurt him little.

When they saw the piece by Dave, though, and the following comments, they were hysterical. They checked with their friends, and got back to me that this is one of those rare individuals who actually has a braintrust. It got around, and was scorned, like who does this guy think he is, kind of stuff. But when it came to the playfield problems there were a couple of dads who sounded like they wanted to find Mr. Herdesty. The basic ideas was what a stupid idea it was and it's very bad to put kids in danger. Particularly the kids that belong to those dads.

So many wondered, if this guy has a braintrust, how could he do such a stupid thing? And if he did one stupid thing, has he done others, will he do more?

Mr. Herdesty, it turns out, is almost as disliked as Tucker, but nobody talked about finding Tucker.

And from what I've seen here, it does look like Mr. Herdesty thinks free speech is actually free from the rate of his use. I think anyone who goes on like that is obsessive/compulsive and probably a real pain in the rear. I bet when I meet him that what I get, but maybe I'll be surprised.

Happy Holidays. - DEMOCRAT DAD

Amy the comment sleeper term refers to someone who can do better but is waiting to make a move. Sand bagger is a term used in Bowling, Golf, Baseball, coming from behind. That is good, it's not saying your uncapable.

You are correct that I do have political agenda... accoundability, that is all...

Your description of what job and experience you have gave me new light in which to look at you. That is the information I like. I have been wondering why since you are satellite engineer would have problems with that, I see that the lack of funds could hinder the progress?

To have open access would make everyone more credible. That would protect everyone involved?

I am no way connected with Dave Hardesty, and Tom B. I am just an ordinary citizen who wants accountability practiced in any office, whether it is local or national.

To have this updated and upgraded video will be sort of protection for you and your council members from falsehoods. It would protect you and Tom B.? No more speculations, no more falsehood, no more rumors. All above board and in the clear.... accountability.

Thank you for visiting back the archive and your response.

Have a nice holiday. Mr. Hardesty.

Have a great holiday Mr. Banana and Tom B.

God Bless the Tracyites! - amy

I had hoped when TP started these comment sections they would be used to convey information. As it is, which is why I don't comment here much any more, they largely have degraded into personal attacks against people for entertainment purposes only.

Honestly I don't have the time to spend on such entertainment.

I now see why you addressed me with your "sleeper" comment. I apologize. My sentence should have ended with a question mark as, "And she's the sleeper?" Sorry for the mistake there.

But my mistake does reveal much doesn't it? When mr. bananas thought you were talking about yourself, and thus possibly aligning yourself with Huffman and me, you can see for yourself the response he made to you.

Perhaps you don't view being called a sleeper as a deogatory statement against your character. Unfortunately I do. Other terms used like the word sleeper in this case, would be sand bagger, stooge, shill, plant, spy and the like.

I don't view you as being one of these but to me it seems mr. bananas did at that time or he would not have jumped at the opportunity to discredit you. But I will also concede he very well may not intended it to come out that way.

Anyway, thank you for your comments and being civil about it. You see I tend to respond more with more civility to persons that treat me civilly.

Have a nice day and I hope you are ready for Christmas. Myself I have a lot of shopping still left to do. - Dave Hardesty

You comment that I am not a likable person baised on the totally anonymous comments of people who spew hate across these comments? I print my name just so that I can be held accountable for what I say. Perhaps they are not anonymous to you, but I doubt that.

You seem to be a reasonable person, does it sound reasonable to you to take the word of a complete stranger in the crowd that refuses to identify his sources and his name?

Or would you rather listen and dialogue with a known person who is not perfect but at least tries to make a positive difference to make things better for everyone?

I have never clamed to be correct all of the time. But it certainly seems that people expect everyone in the public eye to be absolutely perfect all of the time.

I am not seeking an answer but you can ask yourself this question. Am I (you) perfect in everything that I say and do?

If you are honest with yourself you will most answer that question the same as I do; no, not all of the time.

Anyway, thank you for your suggestions and I hope they do someone some good. The more public involvement that occurs in the city the better it is for all of us. And public involvement does not include sniping, and belittling people anonymously in these comment sections.

It does however involve many people getting together and rationally discussing these things until a consencious of opinion is revealed.

amy

Thank you for responding. I feared since TP moved this comment to the archives you might not.

In my professional life I am a communications engineer with a Bachelors Degree in Internet Communications. Digital electronics is virtually all I work with after 35 years in the field of electronics.

In that respect and given that information, do you honestly think I don't "Look into the future", "research costs" and attempt to "upgrade everything on digital scale"?

Think about it, as a seasoned and successful engineer for my corporation who utilizes all electronic technologies to build and operate communication satellites in space, for over 35 years, why wouldn't I apply the same disipline when I am making suggestions to the city in which I live? It wouldn't make sense to me, would it to you?

You seem to wan't everyone to have free speech and then you and others of your apparent group take strong delight in castigating and belittling anyone who may have a point of view different from yours.

You want more police protection and then say the police don't do their jobs. Tom said he supported the troops yet belittled the reservists who have been called to active duty by stating they were just in it for the education and shouldn't serve on active duty.

You want more open government with more access to public documents yet when someone avails themselves of those public documents in order to make better informed decisions you cry foul.

You claim the schools are not doing enough to educate children yet you seem to be against building higher institutions of public learning, namely colleges.

My friend, to me you are a dichotomy. According to my ancestrial roots you would be discribed as a person who speaks with a forked tongue.

I really wish that you would place your energies into working with the people we have now in order to make things better for all of us. The snipeing and deogatory remarks from the both of us don't do anyone any good now do they?

I must also say that when I get tired I sometime respond to you in kind even though I know it's wrong. But I must say that I do find it amusing how you castigate me for the very things that you are also guilty of doing.

Anyway, this is going no where so it's best to stop. Have a good day and a happy life.
