There is NOTHING REAL about a television show that's SOLE PURPOSE is to generate HIGH VIEWER RATINGS and, therefore, (and most importantly to the networks) MILLIONS OF DOLLARS for the already-rich executives. They could not care less about the success of the show's "winner". Out of EVERYONE who has won on past seasons of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson is the ONLY ONE to have any REAL and MEASURABLE success beyond ONE hit song. Carrie Underwood shows promise, but she's still too new to know how successful she'll be. If you're someone who is looking for a successful career as a singer, some TV show is NOT the way to make it. You have an extremely hard road ahead of you, and your chances for success are slim to none. The best thing you can do is research how your favorite artists paid their dues and got their break (usually lots of open mic nights, demo tapes and moving to Nashville or LA) and try those methods. - befuddled and bemused Thu, 02 Aug 2007 10:29:31 +0100
