Tracy High Gym 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: 1
This summer I am watching my friends children and they are involved in a sports camp held at the main gym at Tracy High. I am usually one to show up early for everything and have about 10 minutes to spare. While waiting I decided to check out the trophy cases of my old high school and found them to be dusty and unorganized. It was sad for me to see. I don't know if this is just the way it is through the summer or if it's always this way.

I only went to Tracy High for one year, my senior year, but my daughter may end up there after this next year and I want it to be a school she can be proud of. School spirit is so important to the morale of the students. I know the other two high schools I attended before Tracy High held those trophies from the past is such high regard that at one school a fundraiser was held just to make it possible to display every single accomplishment our school held.

In the trophy case at Tracy High there are trophies covered in dust and many laying on their sides. There are plaques covered by other plaques. Every student who has made an achievment worthy of a trophy presented to the school deserves to see it carefully taken care of in the trophy case when they visit the school.

No, Tracy High wasn't my favorite school I've ever attended. I didn't get the opportunity to love it and feel that Tracy High spirit, but I know what it feels like to feel that and I remember the team I played basketball for making it to state and coming in second. You can bet every time I visit my old school, and I do, that I look for that trophy.

Motown,
I did attend THS from 1981-1985 and loved the tremendous amount of camaraderie and school spirit. It was a great school to attend and there are many wonderful memories stemming from the trophies in the display case. Being involved in the marching band (which at the time was award-winning), the tennis team, the swim team, and one of the first girls on the then all-boys water polo team, I took great pride in THS. Our football teams were the stuff of high school legends!

Unfortunately, this trophy case has been in shoddy shape/appearance since at least the last time I visited my alma mater nearly 4 years ago. The gounds of the school were dirty and littered; graffiti; landscaping not maintained - shameful. It was sad and an embarrassment.

The school district is completely failing the students at this school, as well as the rest of the community. Just because it's the older of the 2 high schools and not on the newer side of town doesn't mean it's okay to neglect it. If it's obvious the adults don't care, the kids will surely follow suit.

I would love to be able to proudly show off my alma mater to my kids who are hitting middle school instead of being sad/embarrassed when compared to their father's high school, Amador Valley in Pleasanton. If I feel that way, imagine how the kids feel that DO attend this school?!

Come on, Tracy - show your Bulldog Pride!

It would be nice to see more pride taken in the old alma mater. That trophy case used to be a source of pride a symbol of the winning tradition. Since West High has been built all anyone hears is how bad Tracy High is and what can be done to get rid of the problem. Hopefully with construction of the new "west building' at Tracy High there will be a restoration of some of the community pride in the school as well. It is a school to be proud of. Tracy High may not be shiny and new and may not have some of the things newer schools have but is has about 90 years of history and heart and a few pretty good people on it's staff, not all of whom are teachers but all of whom still manage to teach the students. I am proud to be a Bulldog and glad my kids got to go there. Once a bulldog always a Bulldog.

I too am a proud Bulldog!! I remember when I was in school (85-89)and the trophy case was close to bulging, simply because we were the best in pretty much what we set out to do. I agree with the comments that it seems like Tracy High has been forgotten, but I know that they seem to be working hard on trying to change it around. If we can teach our kids to have some respect for the faculty AND the facility, we can probably make some decent changes. My son just started there and so far, so good. I would much prefer to send my son there than to West...
