How do NASCAR fans feel about Dale Earnhardt leaving DEI and go to HMS? What number and sponsor do you think he'll bring along? I think it'll be interesting to see how he competes with his new "teammate" Jeff Gordon. Even though he is going to be under a five year contract with HMS, I wonder if he'll return to DEI later or if his stepmom will cave in under the pressure and let him assume some ownership role. Lets talk NASCAR!

JR made a wise choice. He wants to drive a car that will win races. To do that he needs to have someone behind him that knows how to put together a winning team. He needs to come to Hendricks by himself and start with a brand new team. Rick knows how to build winning cars and put together winning teams. Jeff and Jimmy know how to drive to win and they will be good mentors for JR.

If his fans can't grow up and realize that Jeff and Jimmy are nice guys who love to drive then he will be better off without them.

He may drive the #5 and bring it to the winners circle a number of times. If BUD comes with him (they may have to buy out the balance of their contract with DEI) that will be great, whatever sponsor he has will become a household name just like BUD.

Anyway, consulted my kiddos as they are big NASCARer's and my boy is a JR fan--although still trying to keep Michael WAltrip number one in his heart--how is that for commitment. I thought the boy was gonna do back flipw s when Waltrip not only qualified for the race this weekend but brought the car in for a 10th place finish.

Anyway, the boy says that JR made a great move. And although there has been some friction between Gordon and Earnhart camps, he thinks they will be good teammates and better the team as a whole. The sponsorship situations sounds like it will be interesting.

Okay, gotta be shameless here, but continue to support our local racers at Altamont. Gordon and JR had to start somewhere.
